Fun Fact Thursday: Schioppettino ๐ท
Also known as Ribolla Nera, Schioppettino is one of Friuli-Venezia Giuliaโs most distinctive native red grapes. Its name is thought to come from scoppiettareโโto crackle,โ โpop,โ or โburstโโpossibly referring to the grapeโs crunchy berries or the slight fizz once found in young wines.
This expression from Bastianich delivers deep ruby color, wild berries, black cherry, plum, violet, to***co, spice, and the grapeโs signature black-pepper character. Firm tannins and bright acidity give it structure, freshness, and excellent food-pairing potential.
Perfect with grilled meats, lamb, wild game, mushroom risotto, and aged cheeses.
