The story behind the Yoxford Boys Bar by Coast & Country is about much more than great food and drinks – it's a celebration of an important chapter in Suffolk's history and a timely nod to this summer's football fever.
The bar takes its name from the famous "Yoxford Boys", the American airmen of the 357th Fighter Group who were stationed at nearby RAF Leiston during the Second World War. Although based at Leiston Airfield, the group became affectionately known as the Yoxford Boys after broadcaster Lord Haw-Haw mistakenly announced they were stationed in Yoxford – and the name stuck.
Today, that enduring Suffolk-American connection is reflected in the Yoxford Boys Bar's latest menu, featuring exciting American-inspired food and drinks designed to bring people together in the same spirit of friendship and community. From indulgent comfort food to delicious drinks, there's a real taste of Americana on offer.
And what better time to celebrate those transatlantic ties than during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the tournament currently being hosted across the USA, Canada, and Mexico? Football fans can embrace the atmosphere while enjoying a little slice of American hospitality right here in Suffolk, just a short 15 minute drive away from Aldeburgh.
Whether visiting for the history, the food, the World Cup atmosphere, or simply a relaxed get-together with friends and family, the Yoxford Boys Bar offers a unique experience that honours the past while creating new memories for today's visitors.
