A new collection has arrived in the bar lounge…

Suffolk artist Liz de Planta's paintings are now hanging at The Suffolk, and we're opening the doors tomorrow evening for a private view.

Liz paints en plein air, working outdoors to capture Suffolk's landscapes as the light, weather and seasons shift around her. Each piece is painted on the spot, often against the clock before the scene changes completely.

Join us tomorrow, Friday, from 6pm for a first look at the collection, with a glass of w**e and canapés.

Our weekly changing lunch special is a comforting classic: fish finger butty, salad and chips.

An impossibly light batter, tangy gherkins, chilli jam and tartare sauce, all tucked into a homemade potato bun.

We’ve put a lot of love into this one and we’d love for you to try it. £15 including a glass of w**e, available at lunchtime until Friday 💙

We are proud to work with our friends to produce a bespoke oyster gin for the bar here at The Suffolk.

It’s a pretty special drop, using oyster shells to add a hint of salinity to their already brilliant gin. We use it in our Sur-Mertini, mixed with Martini Bianco and lemon bitters, and served with a Maldon Oyster Co. oyster on the side.

If you’re visiting Aldeburgh for the day, a trip to Fishers Distillery is a must. Just along the Crag Path from us, it also happens to be the closest gin distillery to the sea in the UK 💙

It’s Eduard's last day with us today, so naturally he’s going out with a couple of fiery Bloody Marys 🌶️

Edi has been a familiar face behind the bar at The Suffolk, mixing cocktails, looking after guests and being a much-loved part of the team.

We’re very sad to see him go, but enormously grateful for everything he’s brought to The Suffolk. We wish him all the very best for what comes next.

Pop in and say goodbye if you’re passing. And perhaps have a cocktail while you’re at it 💙

A fifteen minute leisurely stroll from us here on the High Street and you’ll find Maggi Hambling’s Scallop sculpture. We always recommend guests pay it a visit.

If you time it just right, turn your back to it and the sea and you’ll see the sun setting over the Haven Nature Reserve. Quite a sight 💙

Meet Bella, the brains behind Norfolk Natural Living 💙

We worked closely with Bella and her team to choose a scent for The Suffolk. It’s called Coastal Walks, by the way. Rather fittingly, it takes its inspiration from the East Anglian coastline, and you’ll now find it in the bathrooms and bedrooms throughout The Suffolk.

And if you become rather fond of it during your stay, you’re in luck. Norfolk Natural Living has its own perfumery just a few doors down from us on Aldeburgh High Street, where you can pick up a candle, hand wash or reed diffuser to take home with you.

The summer of tomatoes is here, and a delivery from is always a treat.

We're incredibly lucky to have so many remarkable growers and producers here in Suffolk, and making the most of their ingredients is one of the great joys of cooking at this time of year.

On the menu at the moment, these tomatoes simply dressed with shallot, sherry vinegar and sea salt.
