Sutton Hoo chicken, mushroom and leek pie.

We're lucky to have some of the country's finest chicken right on our doorstep here in Suffolk, and this week we've made a pie with it. Just what you want for lunch at this time of year.

It's our plat du jour this week, £15 including a glass of w**e or b**r.

You can't have a restaurant by the sea and not serve crab.

That's why our Aldeburgh dressed crab with pickled cucumber and avocado has been on the menu since the day we opened, and hasn't changed a bit.

As it's International Chefs Day, we thought it would be a nice chance to say a big thank you to our kitchen team, a few of whom are pictured here by Lucy J Toms.

This week's plat du jour is a lovely autumnal one. Braised chickpea and nduja cassoulet with confit tuna.

Available for lunch Monday to Friday for £15, including a glass of w**e, b**r or something soft.

And as Alba is kindly demonstrating, dogs are very welcome in both the dining room and bar lounge. Some of our bedrooms are dog friendly also. So do bring your four-legged friends along next time you're in Aldeburgh 💙

Meet George Haslam, our new Executive Chef, overseeing the kitchens at both The Suffolk in Aldeburgh and The White Horse in Easton.

George has spent the past 18 months beavering away behind the scenes, and we're delighted to see him take on this new role.

With years of experience working alongside Gordon Ramsay and Jason Atherton in London, followed by Rick Stein in Cornwall, we're very lucky to have him 💙

We had the best time at the weekend celebrating the Great Big Harvest Feast over at Shimpling Park Farm.

We first met Alice and John Pawsey, who run the farm in West Suffolk, through our pal Gerard at Salter & King Craft Butchers. You'll often find their delicious lamb and hogget in Gerard's butcher's counter.

Over our two suppers last weekend, we got our hands on some Shimpling venison and it was simply outstanding.

So good, in fact, that we've put it on this week's plat du jour!

Shimpling Park Farm venison pie with pickled red cabbage. £15 with a glass of something lovely included.
