Hi friends and neighbors! I was hoping we would run out of ice cream earlier in the week, but we still have quite a bit left. So if you’ve been following us for more than a minute, you know what today is! It’s September 4th, “Empty the freezer” day. Starting around 1, stop by, throw a couple bucks in the tip jar, get something cool!
I’ll post when we are out of ice cream.

Follow Beastro to see where they’ll be!

Some of you may have seen that Shivers Ice Cream is closing today or tomorrow. She has been the most amazing host for us on Fridays since Covid and all of you have made sure Fridays are busy for us week in and week out! In the past Sara has offered up the spot even after she closes. We had planned on giving it a go this weekend.

Unfortunately I had a bit of close call with the heat today after our lunch shift. Luckily Crystal and Johnny got me cooled down and able to see straight.... I knew something was off when I had two right arms... I'd like to think I stay pretty acclimated to the warm temps, but August was pleasant enough to probably get me off my game.

Anyhow, I'm gonna take a day or two and make sure I'm all hydrated up and back to normal. The Saturday forecast looks cool, and sunny! I'll prep burgers Friday night or Saturday to see you at Patron Saints Brewery.

I can't extend enough gratitude to Sara for letting us join her at the Ice Cream Shop on Friday nights, as well as all of the loyal customers who come see us there every week through the rain, sun, wind and any other calamity!

We hope to see you back out there on Fridays around Memorial Day of 2027. In the meantime, we've got a handful of dinner shifts you can catch us at. A few at Patrons, a couple at Earnest, and even one at 60cc... We'll see you soon🍔

We are trying to empty our supplies so we can close this week. If you like peanuts, we are giving away cups of peanuts for snacking. They are whole and have the red skin still on them.

Stop by this afternoon (Wednesday) or Thursday for one last frozen treat!

Wishing everyone a great back to school! Out of respect for our staff who are in school, we are adjusting our hours: opening at 1 and closing at 8.

We need a couple of people to work with us through the end of the season. We are building our team for next season, so if you start now, you’ll be ready to go in the spring.
Available after school and weekends for a minimum of 15 hours per week. Fast learner, friendly, clean, and willing to wash dishes and mop. Stop in at the shop on Friday or Saturday evening to introduce yourself to the owner.

We had a Toledo famous visitor and didn’t even know it!

Hot today, raining this weekend but the weather never dictates when I eat ice cream (or soup honestly) and a lot of you said I should check out Shivers Ice Cream over on the South End of Toledo. I had a hard time choosing but ultimately wanted something simple and went with a key lime soft serve cone. It definitely had a gorgeous seafoam green color and the small waffle cone is not small as all.

A lot of places are doing a new thing where they have tons of flavors they can add to the soft serve. Even though it's an added flavor it will usually be combined with the vanilla flavor of the soft serve so keep that in mind. The key lime was a muted tone but nice, not too strong but if you're looking for something light and sinple the flavors can add a little fun. I'd like to see these with a drizzle of something on top, maybe a lime sauce or ooh, add the keylime flavor to a cheesecake soft serve! My friend got something called Erin's Therapy which is a sundae that came with a lot of peanut butter candy on top (I will put the picture in the comments below).

They have a nice outdoor seated area that is covered from sun or rain and I see this place is seasonal, only through September! If you need to get a shiver going in the heat today, this might help cool you off with a treat. Do uou have a favorite item you get from Shivers?
