There’s a certain pleasure in not rushing the morning.

For 117 years, Hotel Sorrento has welcomed artists, writers, travelers, and romantics. They arrived from different places and for different reasons, but many discovered the same thing: a welcome excuse to slow down for a while.

A cup of coffee by the window. A few extra pages of a good book. A Sorrento robe draped over your shoulders.

The world outside has changed countless times over the last century. Inside, some comforts have remained exactly as they should.

She checks in alone—though by now, we know her by name.

A small suitcase. A well-worn book tucked beneath her arm. No itinerary to speak of.

The city assumes solitude is something to be solved. We know better. A corner table. A craft cocktail. A suite of her own.

After over a decade of greetings, we've learned that some of the most memorable stays begin with a party of one.

No need to hurry. Some places are best enjoyed at the pace of a vintage elevator and a long breakfast.

Most of our rooms are suites, with brass details that mellow with age. The windows continue to cast their familiar light across Seattle, much as they have for 117 years.

Take a little longer with a place that has never rushed. Stay three nights or more and enjoy a $25 breakfast credit at STELLA each morning, along with late checkout when available.

A little bit of the unexpected was on the menu for our latest King Estate Winery Wine Dinner, a five-course evening in the Fireside Room pairing Chef Paolo’s seasonal menu with wines from King Estate.

Guests began with a rhubarb tart paired with King Estate Brut Cuvée before moving into prawns & speck with Domaine Pinot Gris, handmade cavatelli with lamb ragù and Artisan Series Pinot Noir, and troll-caught king salmon served alongside King Estate’s Rosé of Pinot Noir. Dessert closed the evening with nectarine cobbler and Sauvignon Blanc.

Winery owner Justin King shared stories behind the pours and surprised guests with a live guitar performance.

Flowers make a room feel lived in.

Our in-house florist, Georgia of , composes seasonal arrangements inspired by the untamed landscape just beyond the city — gathered branches, garden blooms, and textures that feel as though they’ve been collected on an afternoon wander home.

From flowers awaiting your arrival in the guest room to thoughtfully arranged tables for dinner, each composition is created with a sense of occasion and quiet refinement.

On Wednesday's, the Fireside Room is for readers.

Join Seattle musician Paul Matthew Moore for an evening of turning pages, low piano, and the particular comfort of reading beside other people. No discussion prompts, no assigned chapters, simply a room full of people enjoying a good book in good company.

Find a chair near the fire, settle in with a drink, and spend a little time with your book while the Fireside Room does what it has done well for generations: offer a good place to stay awhile.

Reserve your seat.

The Sorrento was never designed to be hurried through.

Each room carries its own character, layered with framed sketches, collected artwork, worn wood, and quiet details that have found their place here over time. Part of the stay is discovering them.

Take a closer look next time you’re with us.

Once Upon a Garden, Returned

After last summer’s affair in the courtyard, we simply had no choice but to do it again.

Hotel Sorrento invites you back into the garden for another storied summer evening tucked behind the limestone walls of Seattle’s most delightfully peculiar hotel.

Expect live jazz, cocktails worthy of their own stories, bites that seem to appear exactly when needed, and garden games hidden between wildly overgrown blooms. As golden hour fades, the evening slips into its next chapter beneath the stars.

And this year, we may have added a few new surprises to the garden paths.

The hotel has spent more than a century collecting stories.
This July, you’re invited back inside one.
