Our Capitol Hill community,
After a lot of thought, care, and difficult decision-making, we’re sharing that our Capitol Hill shop will be closing, with our final day of service on Sunday, June 21.
note: Ballard and West Seattle remain unaffected.
This decision does not come easy. It is emotional, bittersweet, and necessary for the long-term success of Dough Joy.
Dough Joy started as something so special: unique, joyful, creative, fun, and full of heart. As we grew quickly, scaling became necessary, or at least, we thought it was. And while we are so proud of what we’ve built, we’ve had to be honest about what allows Dough Joy to be its best.
By closing Capitol Hill, we’re giving ourselves the ability to focus again: to make better donuts, dream up more fun and creative flavors, create a better guest experience, support our team, streamline our operations, and put more energy into becoming the best version of Dough Joy we can be.
To our Capitol Hill customers: thank you. Truly. As our first shop, Capitol Hill will always have a sweet place in our hearts. Thank you for showing up, for making this shop feel alive, for celebrating Pride with us, and for loving our team and Dough Joy the way you have.
This is not goodbye to Dough Joy. It is a new chapter, one that allows us to focus on what made Dough Joy so special in the first place and deliver the very best we have to offer.
We hope you’ll visit Capitol Hill and the team over these final days, now through Sunday, June 21. Come celebrate the bittersweet with us. Celebrate Pride. Celebrate what this shop has meant. Celebrate what comes next.
We’re looking forward to making Dough Joy better, stronger, and sweeter for the long run.
With so much love and gratitude,
Sean, Christopher & the Dough Joy Team
