Please join us for our monthly coffee shop Mass tonight at 6pm! Normally our Mass is the second Thursday of the month, but not this month :-) We are so grateful to have Mass so that we can have the Blessed Sacrament in our Adoration Chapel available to everyone that comes in our door.
Our friends from Curatio, the Catholic Healthcare Worker Apostolate, will lead us in praying the rosary after Mass as we are in the month of May, where we honor our Blessed Mother. Last month they led us in praying the Divine Mercy chaplet ❤️

St James Coffee is open until 2pm in honor of Memorial Day!

Memorial Day’s roots are deeply connected to the Catholic tradition of honoring the dead, praying for their souls, and visiting cemeteries, echoing practices like All Souls' Day. Originally known as Decoration Day, it was established in 1868 to honor fallen Civil War soldiers by decorating their graves, a practice aligned with the Catholic belief in the Communion of Saints and praying for the departed.

Join with us in prayer!

A Prayer for the Fallen:
Gracious God, on this Memorial Day, we remember and give thanks for those who courageously laid down their lives for the cause of freedom. May they find eternal rest in Your kingdom, and may their ultimate sacrifice inspire in us the selfless love of Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

A Prayer for Grieving Families of the Fallen:
Heavenly Father, we lift up in prayer the families who mourn the loss of their loved ones who died in service to our country. Wrap them in Your comforting arms, fill their hearts with Your strength and peace, and assure them of Your constant presence today and always. Amen.

This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.
-Psalm 118:24

What a BEAUTIFUL evening we had for TEEN Karaoke! It was so beautiful we couldn't help but bring the party outside. This is one of our favorite nights of the month at St. James Coffee.
It is inspiring to see so many kids having fun and fellowship, and sharing a meal together.

If you are interested in sponsoring a TEEN night, contact Manager Melissa about how to donate to the TEEN ministry fund.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support Julia Windley-Daoust for her bake sale fundraiser on Thursday at St. James Coffee. Julia is raising money to support her living expenses for the summer as she serves as a missionary for Vagabond Missions. She is still a little short of her goal of $5000, which will support her living expenses for the summer and the rest of her inner-city team and the youth they serve.

Please consider supporting her by May 31st in meeting her goal!

You can also write a check to Vagabond Missions with her name in the memo line.

Julia served as a Totus Tuus missionary last summer and her heart of service is leading her to the inner-cities to bring Jesus and a message of hope to the youth.

St. James Coffee is honored to provide free drinks to missionaries when they stop in the coffee shop. If someone has to fundraise their salary and they are focusing their life on serving the Lord, we are thrilled to provide them a treat.

Vagabond Missions is a national apostolate that serves teens in inner-city communities through mentorship, outreach, Bible studies, and youth nights-building authentic friendships and inviting young people into relationship with Jesus & the Church. It is a mission of hope.

Thanks to everyone who came out to enjoy Part 3 of our Shroud Smackdown Series! If you missed the livestream, you can still catch it on our page :-) How did it end?? You'll have to tune in to find out!
It was really beautiful to see a good-spirited debate between two well-intentioned friends that do not agree on a topic. The world needs more of this!! People are very divided, and conversation is the best way to cross that divide.
Stay tuned for more debates that will hopefully be coming soon to St. James Coffee

Up next: Part 3 of our Catholic-Orthodox Dialogue on Friday June 5th at 6pm. It will start with a Pentecost Prayer Service, followed by a discussion and treats! Father Nicholas has graciously offered to host us at the Greek Orthodox Church in downtown Rochester. Join us as we have another opportunity to cross the divide!
