One of our favorite nights in Downtown Muncie is almost here! First Thursday is a monthly celebration of local art, music, shopping, food, and community. Businesses stay open later, galleries welcome visitors, and downtown comes alive. 🎉

We love First Thursday because it brings people together, supports local businesses, and gives everyone a chance to enjoy the gallery walk and discover something new. 💛

Hi all! Our contract with ADM expires June 30th, we are beginning to personally look for an amazing local buyer to write the next chapter of Patterson Block.

This building has meant so much to our family and to downtown Muncie. We have poured our hearts into restoring it, creating community spaces, and supporting small businesses through every season.

With my husband pursuing his CRNA, my diagnosis of diastolic heart failure, and another family member facing health challenges, we know it is time for us to step into a new season of life and simplify where we can.

We are looking at all reasonable offers and would love to see Patterson Block continue to thrive with someone who believes in this community as much as we do.

If you know of a person, family, organization, or investor who may be interested, please reach out or share this post. We would be so grateful for your help in finding the right fit for this historic building we love so dearly. ❤️

May 10, 2026 - The Patterson Block

This week we turn our focus from the Emily Kimbrough Local Landmark Historic District to some of Muncie's individually listed local landmarks. A local landmark is a historic structure that is listed in the city ordinances as a designated local landmark. That means the building's exterior falls under historic preservation guidelines, approval of changes to the exterior are overseen by the Historic Preservation and Rehabilitation Commission. Local Landmark designations are used to ensure the continued integrity of a historic structure.

Our first structure under this category is the Patterson Block, located 100-112 South Walnut Street. It is listed in the Indiana Historic Structures and Sites Inventory as being "outstanding" with regard to its Italianate architectural style. This building exemplifies the Italianate architectural style through its ornate bracketed cornices, tall narrow windows with window hoods, and of course its Corinthian columns/posts.

The building was built by Arthur Patterson, who was a metal working for steam boat manufacturing. Patterson started construction in 1876 and finished it in 1881. Many dozens of businesses have resided and used this historic location. It remains a treasure to the downtown landscape.
