Early this morning, when I first came to work, one of my waitresses came to me and said, “There’s a man outside asking for you.”
When I walked outside, I recognized him. He said hello and then told me something I honestly didn’t expect to hear.
He was the person who had taken the flower from our garden.
He apologized. He explained what happened and told me how sorry he was for taking it.
And yes… the flower that was stolen and the flower that was placed back in its spot are indeed the same flower. 🌸
The original post has been down for a while now, and the flower has been back in our garden for a couple of weeks. So this man didn’t have to come back. He could have simply walked away and never said another word.
But he came back.
He stood in front of me, admitted what he had done, and apologized.
Was taking the flower wrong? Absolutely. But I also believe there is something powerful about a person being willing to admit when they were wrong and make things right.
That takes humility. That takes courage.
And at PetalPop, we talk a lot about community. Community isn't just about the good moments. It's also about giving people the opportunity to learn, grow, make amends, and do better.
So today, I'm choosing to recognize the part of this story that deserves respect.
