Hello, everyone. This is Jon Erickson, and believe it or not, this is the first social media post I have ever personally written.

My wife, Jane, and I are winding down after an incredible two weeks as the 2026 Oktoberfest Festmaster and Frau, and I wanted to take a moment to say thank you.

First, to all of the current and former employees of The FreightHouse Restaurant: thank you. Your dedication to providing high-quality service and taking great care of our guests has helped make The FreightHouse what it is today—and, quite frankly, you make me look good! I am very grateful for each of you.

I enjoyed every moment of Oktoberfest: the Torchlight Parade, the Tapping of the Golden Keg, the Maple Leaf Parade, and especially all of the time spent with people throughout the fest grounds. The kindness shown to Jane and me meant a great deal.

Last week was Tour Week for the Royal Family, and it may have been one of the most meaningful parts of this entire experience. We visited 55 schools, daycares, sponsors, nursing homes, and memory care communities. Along the way, we saw firsthand the power of music and how a familiar song can bring someone back to a moment in time.

One moment we will never forget was hearing our Miss La Crosse Oktoberfest, Jenna Martin, sing “Hallelujah.” As she sang, residents began joining in. Watching music connect an entire room was something Jane and I feel very fortunate to have experienced.

To the La Crosse community: thank you for welcoming us, celebrating with us, laughing with us, waving to us, and singing with us. You gave us memories we will never forget.

What an incredible ride.

Prost! 🍁🍻
