We may not have a sign out front, but Brasil is far from anonymous. When we opened our doors back in 1992, we were the first true coffee bar in Houston, and word spread fast. Our classic brick interior is still the perfect backdrop for early-morning coffee, and we're a dependable gathering place for artists, musicians, writers,

and students, plus the adventurous business professionals and attorney types from the local 'hood. Since 1998 we've served breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and our menu continues to expand, with an emphasis on locally sourced goods. Happy Hour

To honor our Boo, we’ll be putting together a small gallery show on Monday the 25th starting at 6:00 PM. We’ll be sharing videos and pictures of Boo, both from our own memories and from everything you all have sent us, on the projector out on the back patio. Everyone is welcome to stop by and share a laugh while remembering our boy. If you have photos or drawings of Boo, please feel free to bring them. We’d love to add them to the gallery wall.

That patio was his, and it holds so many memories that will always remind us of him. We would love to see you all there. This is about celebrating our boy and all the smiles he brought to our faces. We miss him and will continue to miss him every day. That back patio will always be Boo’s.

Thank you for all the kind words, comments, videos, and photos you’ve shared of Boo. We can’t tell you enough how much it means to us ❤️ We’ll see you Monday to share memories and celebrate our sweet boy.

Our sweet Boo crossed the rainbow bridge today. It’s with heavy hearts that we even write this, but we know he touched many of our friends and customers the same way he touched all of us.

Boo was a special dog. We had friends and customers who would come in specifically to see him if they were having a bad day or feeling low. He truly brought comfort and joy to so many people.

We are so lucky we got to have 12 ½ wonderful years with our sweet boy. Every day, Boo got to spend time at the café greeting people, begging for food, and taking naps in the funniest places imaginable. From 6 months old to 12 ½ years old, this boy loved Brasil and honestly preferred it over home (unless it was dinner time).

He would sneak out of the gate just to grab some quick snacks from friends and customers and then casually walk himself back home. There were so many times we’d ask, “Where’s Boo?” and someone would say, “Oh, I saw him walking back to the house.”

We could go on and on about all the special memories people shared with Boo. It’s going to be hard for all of us not seeing his funny little self at the café anymore.

To honor our Boodan, we’d love to put together a gallery show celebrating Boo’s life. We’re asking anyone who has photos, videos, drawings, or memories of Boo throughout the years to submit them for a small opening in his honor. We’re still planning a date, but we’ll post updates on our Instagram and community board.

Thank you all for loving our special boy. We’re going to miss him so much ❤️

P.S. We still crack up over a review someone left years ago complaining about boo and calling him a gargoyle 😂 That review will absolutely be included in the art show.
