THIS CHAPTER IS COMING TO A CLOSE...

6 & a half yrs ago, I moved to Cornwall with a burning desire to realise a dream. With no money & big dreams, I landed in the Lizard, 1 day before the 1st lockdown.

I bought a very ordinary little touring caravan for £150 & started to strip it out, I then met a very handy-man! Who you all have come to know & love as the man behind the counter and my partner in crime and halloumi flatbreads -Sami 💚

That first Summer out of lockdown Ellies Soul Kitchen was born, a field, a caravan, 3 picnic blankets & 2 tables..it was so basic, I served out of one of the caravan windows & cooked on the original caravan oven. So much work & so little money, I nearly gave up at the end of the first month. But the few people who did come in, they seemed to love this odd little creation of mine.

In the 2nd lock down, I didn't give up, We tried something different...takeaways. I also learnt about the power of social media (god help us all! 😂) I learned how to advertise.

Our 2nd summer things started to take off, the caravan got given a lick of pink paint. People started to find us, I gained a little confidence, people started to respond to our place. Positive reviews started. We still cooked from the caravan oven.

Years 3, 4 and 5 built on what we started, It's never failed to fascinate me how people have responded to the cafe. These things we think we want, all the overlay & yet the peace and calm I've seen that descends over a person when they can just sit back in a field with a nice bit of hummus and pitta.

This is year 6 for us & its with great sadness but immense gratitude i tell you, it will be my last. This is the best thing I have ever done & I've never been prouder of anything. But the feeling that created The Soul Kitchen is back and it's leading me onward. There will still be a cafe under a new name and i will still create the menus, and it's with great love I will hand over the reins now, to my best friend, Sami. 💚

From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you all for being a part of this chapter with us. I will cook again...Just not yet! Now it's time for a rest!

Our last day will be Sept 26th.

As the summer air is cooling down, our menu is warming up and we are serving delicious dahl on our day to day menu, with a garlic and herb flatbread and salad. (V) or (VG)

I am literally blown away by how outstanding these guys are.
Thankyou so much for coming back to ours, if anyone ever sees them gigging somewhere, i urge you to go and see them, i believe they are currently doing a Harvest album Neil Young tour around the country. Give them a follow..boom your tickets...
