Truly a throwback Thursday...
Tasting this Pretty Penny, aged in a Buffalo Trace barrel through the summer of 2016 is a joy. Inviting memories of peddling Pretty Penny and Smackintosh bottles to the Beverage Company, and asking if we can have "that Buffalo Trace barrel sitting in the back room". Putting our favorite cider in it, aging, carbonating, and bottling. Consuming and selling, but squirreling away just a bottle or two with a painter's tape label guiding the way to today.
The cider evokes spirits and wood, a hundred+ year orchard & project of apple diversity and a young cidery putting one foot in front of the other. If we are lucky and we try, the flavors of old will stoke the flavors of new.
