I don’t like fishing. When I was a kid I used to cry when my grandpa made me put the worm on the hook. My grandma would give me stale bread to feed the ducks and I noticed the fish would also go for the bread. So I got the fishing net from the shed and put it in the water at an angle. I figured out that I could sprinkle the bread over the net and pull it out when the fish went for it catching 5 or 6 at a time. So I filled a five gallon bucket with at least 100 perch and bluegill and then went to catch frogs or something. When I returned all the fish were dead. I panicked and dumped them back into the narrow water channel the dock was on, not knowing that dead fish float. The canal, now blanketed with sideways lifeless fish, was an unnerving sight. As my dismayed grandparents and neighbors coasted their paddle and pontoon boats through the grim and, eerily quiet, carnage I had created I decided that fishing is going to be one of those things that just isn’t for me.

Anyway, rainbow trout with pesto, citrus and fennel salad.

Our Story

Wren is located in the old Firehouse building in downtown Suttons Bay, MI. Our Chef Adam McMarlin has found that he obtains a much better result when he uses what is available to him at the time and place that he’s in. What he serves represents our region and is as locally sourced as possible. The menu at Wren may change weekly or even daily depending on what is available.

What you are not seeing in this photo of an almost perfectly clean plate is the hands down, greatest ribeye I have ever been blessed to eat(and I have had some good ones in my life). Seriously, I can ot rate this place high enough, so I felt this pic did the food here justice. It is like the plate good. It's embarrassingly good. A+++

Our birthday dinner for four was delicious! The walleye was cooked to perfection and the parsnips were a pleasing g surprise. The steak was done exactly as requested. Drinks were good and service was great! I’ve already recommended it to friends.
Last evening the committee of the Suttons Bay Art Festival had their annual dinner at Wren. What a great meal, good wine and interesting conversation. Oh, and we actually did get some work done!
