Silver Falls Smith Creek Village

Silver Falls Smith Creek Village You are welcome to the Smith Creek Village, a community-hub and

The Smith Creek Village locale of Silver Falls State Park has long been one of Oregon’s favorite places to meet and gather with loved ones and colleagues, and is a space that holds long-standing memories + nostalgia for many people of Oregon. Formerly the Silver Falls Lodge and Conference Center, the historic buildings and services were closed after a series of unfortunate events in 2020 + an enti

re pandemic, ending in a change in concessions operations + management. After a lengthy and unsure season, in early May of 2021, a new contract was awarded by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department to Silver Falls Hospitality, a local small business + team of innovative and dedicated workers. From the outset, our mission at Silver Falls Hospitality has been to learn firsthand from the very nature of the wilderness, and directly from those who have been stewards of the land before us. As a small business and as a blossoming cohort of creatives and boots-on-the-ground team, we aim to convey the resilience that we have gained & continuously learned from, and instill those values into the hearts and minds of the sojourners, friends, locals, and families that we are honored to host.Just 35 minutes east of Oregon's capital, Salem, 1.5 hours south of Portland International Airport and 20 minutes south of Silverton, Silver Falls State Park is the ideal staycation. It's easily accessible, yet sufficiently secluded to allow for productive + organized meetings, intimate gatherings, and restorative unplugged outings.Best known for its many waterfalls, Silver Falls State Park features 35 miles of trails, including the renowned Trail of Ten Falls, a National Recreation Trail. Situated in a temperate and heavily wooded rain forest, the park offers leisure appeals for mountain bicyclists, a diverse range of photographers, families with doggos, wildlife seekers, and new outdoor enthusiasts alike.

Not every trail has a welcoming committee. Silver Falls does.

A Steller's Jay moving through the old growth like it has somewhere to be, hopping between moss-covered branches while the rest of the forest stays perfectly still. You don't see moments like this when you're rushing.

Slow down out here and the park shows you things most people walk right past.

POV: The best decision you made all summer.

You traded the to-do list for a trail. The noise for a creek running under a wooden bridge. The screen time for trees and moving water and absolutely nowhere else to be.

There is a place that makes you forget everything else exists.

The waterfall you hear before you see it. The trail that pulls you deeper into the forest before you realize you've stopped thinking about your to-do list. The moment you round the corner and 177 feet of falling water is right in front of you.

Silver Falls State Park in July is something else entirely.

3 things no one tells you about staying inside a state park.

The quiet is different than you expect. Not just less noise. No traffic, no neighbors, no city hum. Just the sound of the forest and whatever thoughts you've been too busy to hear.

You wake up already there. No drive to the trailhead, no parking lot, no waiting. You open the cabin door and the park is right in front of you before anyone else has even arrived.

And somewhere around the second morning something shifts. You stop checking your phone. You stop thinking about what's next. Most people say that's the moment they realize one night wasn't enough.

Some trips leave a memory you keep going back to.

You know the one.

The moment you stood behind South Falls and felt the mist before you even saw the water. The morning the forest was so quiet you stopped walking just to listen. The look on someone's face when they realized what Silver Falls actually is.

That memory is your entry.

Pull up the video. The one sitting in your camera roll that you've watched more than once. Upload it, tell us the story behind it, and you're in. Videos only. No new trip required. Just the footage you already captured and the words only you can put to it.

3 things to do with kids at Silver Falls that cost nothing extra.

Walk behind a waterfall. South Falls drops 177 feet and the trail takes you right behind the curtain. Watch their face when they realize what's happening.

Hike the Trail of Ten Falls. Ten waterfalls, one trail, and kids who will spend the whole drive home arguing about which one was the best.

Spot wildlife along the trail. Deer in the meadows, salamanders near the creek banks, birds in the old growth canopy. Hand a kid a camera and the whole hike becomes a mission.
