Kim & Mike spent their 40th wedding anniversary with us a couple of weeks ago. They even took time to pop down to see me at Dancing Bear, and I'm so glad I got to see them. They stayed on their honeymoon 40 years ago!!! ~ Bonnie

Crazy bright sunset the night before last ~ this was taken just around the corner from the inn. It didn't last long enough for me to get a photo of the inn or gardens with the sunset in the background. In this photo it was already fading. ~ Bonnie

On Dancing Bear's page we play, "Where's the shop cat?" This was a photo from about two weeks ago when Esperanza Raffaela was visiting our toy store. Can you find her in the photo?

"Where's Bonnie?" .... Dennis runs the inn, but guests often ask, "where's Bonnie?"

Bonnie is the 'Witch of Whimsical' at our shop, Dancing Bear Toys (head of operations, chief executive, in charge of most everything except carrying the heaviest boxes, changing the lightbulbs in the ceiling fixtures, and fixing things I can't fix, those are Dennis & Mike jobs).

It's a full time gig: ordering all the merchandise, creating displays, encouraging and directing my fabulous staff, ordering yet more merchandise, planting the garden of planters out front, watering the planters every dang day for most of the summer, using my trusty leaf blower each morning to make our entrance inviting. I'm extra proud of my little shop, it's a labor of love.

You won't find me behind the counter very often ~ ordering merchandise to restock the shelves keeps me behind the scenes working, that and assisting staff checking the merchandise in and displaying it .... takes up most of my time. I do often work behind the counter on the weekends. ~ ♡ Bonnie

I love meeting guests in the backyard, Kathy & Rick have been staying at the inn since we had Christmas By the Bay Open Houses, so that's since the late 1980s or early 90s, we were trying to remember. It was great to see them this morning before they were off on a hike (and before the rain arrives). Magic, one of the Dancing Bear shop borzoi, joined the photo.

We did our first Christmas Open House as a fund raiser for the Door County Library and Miller Art Center. It was so fun we started our own tours along with other historic inns in Sturgeon Bay. Kathy remembers that they couldn't get into their room until late afternoon because after the tour we had to clean all the floors again. Great memories. ♡ Bonnie

This photo is of room 4 in the Main House of White Lace Inn, it was taken a few years ago. The wallpaper is a subtle yellow pattern, the canopy is a hand knotted Carter Canopy, the 4 poster bed was handmade at Leonard's Beds of Massachusetts. The furniture is the same, but the bed linens and sometimes curtain fabric are always evolving. Our daughter, Alexa, is now the decorator in charge of dressing the beds, and she does a marvelous job of it. ~ Bonnie and Dennis

As we ease into September, the different varieties of hydrangeas are getting pretty showy around the White Lace Inn's gardens and the four houses that are part of White Lace Inn. ~ Bonnie
