Lang and his family arrived in Reading more than thirty years ago to begin new lives in their adopted country. Self-motivated from the age of ten, Lang developed his own style of cooking combining the freshness and flavors of traditional Vietnamese dishes with the sophistication of classical French cuisine. Lang opened the original Hong Thanh Restaurant with his wife and children in 1986 at the co

rner of 10th and Chestnut Street, where he gained an adventurous and loyal clientele. As his restaurant grew and relocated over the years, the next generation of talented family chefs began to experiment with their father's signature dishes, incorporating tastes and techniques from other cuisines, and adding their own creative touches to the solid foundation built by Lang. Now, in order to launch their new and expanded iteration of contmporary Asian cuisine, the family has returned to downtown Reading to open LANG in tribute to their creator and patriarch. LANG offers a revised modern menu that retains the quality and excellence of the original while including new and distinctive dishes and desserts. LANG also provides an excellent B.Y.O.B opportunity for connoisseurs to bring a favorite wine, brew, or spirit to the table. Despite its evolving style and new interpretations, the heart of LANG remains unchanged: family, food, friends, and love. Each dish is carefully prepared by a family member who learned under the tutelage of Lang himself. Dedication to fine cooking has sustained the family through hard and good times alike, and continues to unite and inspire each generation. As those who dine at LANG will discover, devotion to food is the same as that to family and nothing could be more delicious!
