Portland Pottery offers pottery, jewelry making, sculpture and a wide assortment of classes and workshops to artists of all ages, ability levels and backgrounds. The clay studio features a spacious area organized for wheel throwing, hand building, kiln firing, jewelry making, metal casting and studio rental. The skilled and experienced instructors and teachers of Portland Pottery are highly commen

ded for their patience, clay knowledge and the personalized attention they give each student. The supply stores are a full service ceramic and pottery supply, stocking a wide variety of clay, glazes, kilns, wheels and other pottery, studio and ceramic equipment. We also have books, tools, brushes, self-hardening clays, raw materials and much, much more. Browsers are welcome.

Explore colors as a tool and weave together meditation, gentle reflection, and pottery painting as ways of practicing attention and care.

The morning will be a Cone 10 discussion based workshop focusing on glaze combos and how they react in high fire kilns!

The afternoon will be a Cone 6 hands on workshop where you’ll learn different glazing techniques.

Demonstration and Q&A with Tara Wilson!

Join us for a live demonstration and Q&A session with woodfiring phenom, Tara Wilson!

Her demonstrations will include examples of throwing and altering techniques for creating Tara’s distinctive gestural forms. Discussions and conversations are encouraged throughout the demo, and will range through all aspects of making, the creative process, wood firing, and maintaining a productive studio routine and rewarding artistic practice. This demonstration offers practical, adaptable techniques suitable for potters of all levels.

MAYCO COMES TO PORTLAND POTTERY!!

Mayco teacher and workshop coordinator, Sarah Caudill, will be coming to Portland, 9/12, to host a day of workshops at our Washington studio!

The morning workshop (10a-12p) will show how their beautiful Stoneware Glazes work in different Cone 10 firings. This is a discussion based workshop. The afternoon workshop (1-4p) will be all about Cone 6 glazes and showing various glazing techniques! This will be a project based workshop.

This workshop is open to all levels and all are welcome!!

You can sign up for either workshop OR you can sign up for both and make it a whole day! $30 per workshop, $50 for the whole day! 😊

We are so excited to welcome MAYCO to our amazing community!
