Meet Kassa Coffee! ☕️

We love partnering with local businesses that find new and creative ways to use our coffee, and Kassa Coffee does exactly that. Currently serving from their coffee truck at Riverbank Park in Westbrook, they use our Espresso Bella Crema in bold drinks like their Tiramisu and Biscoff Lattes.

They also serve whipped matcha in strawberry, blackberry and mango. Stop by to see what they’re creating!

Amy Stacey Curtis has never waited for a traditional art space to make room for her work. She created the space herself.

In 2009, the Rebel Blend Fund helped Amy bring TIME to life: nine participatory installations spanning 16,000 square feet inside Biddeford’s Pepperell Mill.

It was part of an extraordinary 18-year project that included 81 interactive installations in abandoned mills across Maine, created with the help of more than 500 assistants and volunteers.

Since then, Amy’s creative life has taken a path she never could have anticipated. Following a brain injury caused by previously undiagnosed Lyme disease, she experienced psychosis, loss of muscle control, and years of rehabilitation. When she struggled to regain her speech, she began playing the ukulele as her own form of occupational therapy.

Today, Amy has learned more than 700 songs, won Maine’s Got Talent in 2025, published her memoir How My Brain Saved My Life Twice, and released the ukulele cover album Restrung.

Her advice to this year’s applicants is simple: It can’t hurt to try. If you don’t try, you definitely won’t receive the grant. Find your inner rebel.

We asked Amy what being a rebel means to her. She said:

“Refusing to wait for permission to create, heal, or reinvent yourself.”

The Rebel Blend Fund is fueled by every Rebel Blend bag and cup purchased. Support the fund at our Diamond Street coffeehouse or shop online, and apply for this year’s grant through the link in our bio.

What happens when fifth graders, teaching artists, and environmental educators create something together? In this case, a permanent mural celebrating the nature found all around us, even in the middle of the city.

In 2024, the Rebel Blend Fund supported Side x Side’s work with fifth graders at Presumpscot Elementary School in Portland. Students combined their own observations, research, and writing about seasonal events in nature to create Outside These Walls.

For more than a decade, the women-led nonprofit has worked alongside Maine students and educators to bring arts-integrated learning into classrooms. Since receiving the grant, demand for its programming has only continued to grow, with a record 70 classroom requests for the upcoming school year.

Their advice to future applicants is to think collaboratively and consider how your idea could create an impact that lasts beyond the project itself.

We asked the Side x Side team what being a rebel means to them. They said:

“Identifying a challenge, thinking creatively to find solutions, and using your voice to uplift and empower others.”

The Rebel Blend Fund is fueled by every Rebel Blend bag and cup purchased. Support the fund at our Diamond Street coffeehouse or shop online, and apply for this year’s grant through the link in our bio.

Papayo is a rare coffee varietal with a mysterious past, named for cherries that resemble miniature papayas.

This harvest comes from Aura Diaz, who rebuilt her life through coffee after being displaced from Putumayo in 2001. Starting with 2,000 trees, she now grows 11,000 and continues investing in her family and farm.

Colombia Aura Diaz Papayo Washed is available now in limited quantities.
