After a week of steady traffic, we are finally starting to see the shelves get restocked. From worms and cheeses to Bloody Mary mix and 5 gallon water jugs, we were out of it all. By days end that should not be the case.
We have a fresh box of hats, along with a bunch of other new items, including pint glasses and polo shirts. Most importantly, another 15 quarts of 1000 Island dressing.
There is live music tonight (7/10) from 5-8pm and when World Cup is on, we are watching it.
Thank you for a tremendous week of business. The forecast looks beautiful and we are ready to do it all over again.

It ain't Froggy's, but this place is hoppin'!

It has taken me a decent night's sleep to reflect on the past seven days. A week that started with a customer clogging a toilet with paper towels so bad that I needed to call in professional help to clear it. A week where the AC unit in the taproom went down on the hottest day in recent memory. A week where we received two, 2-star reviews because some employees were caught up in a moment of laughter, while others don't know how to read a menu. Fifteen years ago, any one of these issues would have left me frazzled, let alone all happening on the busiest week of the year, but we have dealt with far worse. Many of you know, we repealed prohibition in the throes of legal battles against our own local tyrannical government.
Sometimes it's nice to look back at just how far you have come.
This past weekend was among the most memorable experiences I could have imagined. Less than 2000 calories of food and 12 hours combined sleep over a 3 day period. Two of those days I hit 14,000 steps and barely left the store's 3k square foot footprint. The lake was flat, the air was warm, and it was a Saturday Fourth of July. The last time we had this calendar setup was 2020. Needless to say, the data I had in my daily journal entries from the previous 18 seasons didn't quite provide the guidance they usually do.
It was a weekend that included 120 dozen eggs worth of breakfast sandwiches, 180 pounds of potato salad, and fifteen quarts of Thousand Island dressing, which is predominantly used 2 tablespoons at a time on one specific sandwich.. And of course, 43 dozen sticky buns.
This time of year you see customers from around the country and even the globe, that visit one week a year. You hug each other as if you were at your own annual family reunion. That's the thing about Keuka Lake; it emotionally binds people in a way that when you get it, you get it, no matter how far away you live or how long it's been since your last visit.
To top it all off my long time friend, Shep Rose, decided he was going to visit for the very first time. He held an impromptu book signing and brought every ounce of his "Southern Charm" with him. Looking at the many photos I took during our days in south Florida and hearing the room fill with laughter as he retold stories of some of our wilder antics was icing on the cake.
We had our best single day and 3-day weekend in store history, in spite of the reviews.
Alas, I immediately recall the Samurai proverb, "After victory, tighten your helmet strap." At last night's World Cup watch party, a friend reluctantly informed me that there was a small leak in the ceiling of one of the bathrooms, and you are reminded that this place will never stop giving you challenges, and I will continue to keep battling them for as long as my name is on the door. I am committed to providing one of the best lakeside general stores in the country.

Thank you.

Happy 250th birthday to this remarkable nation!
We are here for almost every last minute supply you could ask for. Ice, limes, flares, s'mores stuff, you name it.
This is without a doubt our busiest weekend of the summer, and want to thank everyone that has helped make this little lakeside store everything that it has become.
We will have music tomorrow afternoon around 2pm, and streaming soccer whenever it is on.
May everyone go to bed tonight with as many fingers as they woke up with!
Make it a memorable one.

Happy Juneteenth!

This weekend is the official beginning of summer, and we are already seeing a steady increase in traffic.
We have a new shipment of merch in stock, including our wildly popular "Gulf" styled hats, as well as our new Froggy"s lids.
We are now featuring locally designed Mood Swimwear. Great cuts, many reversible color options, and perfect for the lake.
This afternoon we will be packing them in for the USA vs Australia soccer match, as well as streaming the US Open in between matches.
It is a weekend full of celebrating freedom, Father's Day, the Summer Solstice, and probably a birthday or two.
Our TikTok page continues to grow and we love to see our staff recognized for their spirited talents.
Summer is upon us. Look no further than The Olney Place to help facilitate all the lakeside fun imaginable.

The weekend is here!

FISH FRY TONIGHT!
Join us from 4-7p, as JR's Back Alley BBQ serves up their regionally acclaimed fish fry dinners, as well as clam strips and chicken tenders. At the same time, we will have Pat Carlineo and Friends playing somewhere on campus.
Take note of our slightly relocated, straighter, higher, Gulf gas sign, as well as our newly extended gas slips.
We have an assortment of new hats, commemorating the USA/250 celebrations that will be taking place all summer long.
In addition, we have new snacks, socks, hot sauces, toys, and water bottles for you to check out.
If there is a World Cup match on, we will do our best to have it streaming in the taproom.
See you soon.

Wake & Lake is here!

The 7th edition of our most popular beer is now available in can, as well as draft.
Everything, from the Thin Man ownership, brewer, distribution/sales teams, and even the label, has changed in recent years. The one constant, is our unrelenting effort to provide this fun and tasty beverage. A hazy pale ale with a dash of pineapple (5.4% abv).
Stop by the store and give it a try.

As for the kids, let them know we have all the fun treats, including hacky sacks, Cry Baby keychains, squishy butter and trendy dumplings (trust us, they'll know).

If you read this in time, join the gang at 2:30p today, for the USA v Germany.

Have a great weekend!

PS: the guys from the other boat finally caught some fish😎

We are working on a few repairs to our dock that was damaged during the storms this spring, but our north slips are in and the pump opens at 9am, 7 days a week.

Some of our younger staff members have decided to revive our very dormant TikTok page. If you'd like to see how we entertain ourselves on the slower days, check us out at the link below.

New beer alert!

Be sure to check out the fancy new label on our freshest batch of "Olney In New York" by Sloop Brewing. Using all New York ingredients, featuring Vista hops from Elmira, this batch of hazy IPA is better than ever!
Steuben Brewing has once again made what we consider 'a beer for the people." A crisp and clean pilsner, perfect for a post yard work reward, or lounging around the lake and soaking up the sunshine.
There are new snacks and clothes rolling in by the day. The forecast looks great, the lake temperature is rising, and the bass are biting, so get out there and enjoy yourselves!

We look forward to seeing you!
