🍙Onigiri Pop-Up with Hibino Day by Day🍙

Starting this Wednesday, we’re welcoming the onigiri pop-up to our retail space in collaboration with Hibino Day by Day.

Handmade in Upstate New York, these onigiri will be served in a bento-style set, available in limited quantities each week.

The pop-up will take place every Wednesday in May from 11:30 AM to 3:00 PM, or until sold out.

Please note:
May 13 will be moved to Thursday, May 14 due to a personal scheduling conflict.

Two Special Events with Korean Ceramicist Jeon Sang Geun.

1) Teapot Workshop
A two-day hands-on workshop exploring the art of wheel-thrown teapots with Korean ceramic artist Jeon Sang Geun .

Jeon will guide students step by step through his process — from forming the body to shaping and attaching the spout, lid, and handle — using traditional Korean tools and techniques.

Students will create their own teapot with individualized guidance, use a special set of tools brought from Korea, and take the tools home after the workshop to continue their practice.

Recommended for those with prior wheel-throwing experience. No previous teapot-making experience required.

5PM – 9PM (4-hour session + 30 min break)
Price: $450 total

2) Teabowl Demo
An intimate evening of live wheel demonstration and storytelling. Through the lens of tea culture across Korea, Japan, and China, Jeon will share the philosophy and traditions behind tea bowl making, while demonstrating trimming and refining techniques that shape each vessel’s balance and expression.

Private evening session with the studio closed to the public.

Join us for a guided tea tasting and pairing experience centered on Korean tea, craft, and ceramics.

This special tea gathering will be led by Tea Director Im Boeun, in collaboration with Korean ceramic artist Jeon Sang Geun.

Throughout the tasting, guests will experience tea served in Jeon’s teaware, exploring how each vessel shapes the experience of tea—its aroma, texture, temperature, and rhythm.

Inspired by Jeju, the tea selection will unfold as a 4-course pairing experience, beginning with an opening tea and progressing through thoughtfully curated infusions that express the depth of Korean tea culture.

A limited selection of Jeon Sang Geun’s teaware will be available for purchase exclusively for attendees.

Studio Calmplex is honored to host ceramic artist Jeon Sang Geun for two special events exploring the craft, culture, and technique behind tea bowls and wheel-thrown teapots.

1) Teapot Workshop
A two-day hands-on workshop exploring the art of wheel-thrown teapots. Jeon will demonstrate his process—from forming the body to shaping and attaching the spout, lid, and handle—using traditional Korean tools and techniques. Participants will create their own teapot with individualized guidance and receive a set of Korean tools to take home. For intermediate–advanced wheel throwers.
