We all have that one place that instantly brings us peace, happiness, and a chance to recharge. If you’ve been following us for a while, you already know ours is New Orleans.
With only 48 hours to eat, drink, wander, and squeeze in a nap or two, you’ve got to be strategic.
The journey started off by taking the Amtrak Mardi Gras train from Mobile to Nola. It takes twice as long as driving but the views are worth it if you’re not in a rush.
First stop was PecheNOLA for lunch. Definitely order the fried bread to sop up any sauce that may be left on your plate. Everything was excellent! Next up was a divine uninterrupted nap before dinner.
Dinner at La Petite Grocery was a long awaited bucket list meal and it absolutely delivered. The panéed rabbit was juicy, crispy perfection. After dinner it was off to the Ms Mae’s for drinks and watch the US soccer team kick the bucket. After some drinks and a few shots it was time to head back to the hotel but late night sushi from Hoshun Restaurant was calling and that’s a call I never miss.
The morning started 9:30am and it was off to Luke for breakfast. A fluffy crab omelette and a tasty espresso drink are just the thing to bring life back to one’s self. After breakfast a leisurely stroll through the Quarter before going back to the hotel for a quick nap before check out. Being a working parent is tiresome y’all!
Finally, a delicious dim sum lunch from Dian Xin. I’ll say it every time, best dumplings in the city! Then a stroll through the French Market, one last drink in the Quarter, and off to the train station to head home.
48 hours of eating and napping was the perfect reset. New Orleans, we love you forever and always.
