Friends,
After a year of operating as a roasting-only coffee business, we have decided to let go of Chaleur Coffee. Our lease ends at 1714 in a few days, and rather than pursuing other options we have decided the wisest thing to do is to stop operating as a roasting company. We've heard a lot over the years that good business owners, in addition to running good businesses, know when to let certain ones go, and are self aware enough to know when something isn't working as well as it should be. We want to be good stewards of what we're given.
We feel that at its best, Chaleur was a warm, inviting, educational and creative space with an INCREDIBLE staff and equally wonderful customers. We're super proud of what it was.
We also realize that for the past year, that's not what it was anymore. To see your names on an order sheet has been a sweet connection to you all, but our original vision for this business was no longer intact.
Courtney and I are so thankful for each of you – whether you stopped in once for a drink, got to know us over the years from the other side of the bar, or just followed our story from afar. Chaleur was a special place.
Unfortunately, our last day roasting was Wednesday. We have had quite a few details to wrap up in order to vacate our space by the 30th, as you can imagine. We will still be small business owners moving forward! Follow (who already has her own ecommerce store and linen clothing line) and (who is a graphic designer + photographer) to keep up with what we’ll be announcing in the next few weeks.
We will also still be offering consulting and barista training moving forward, so if you’re opening a cafe, talk to us!
Again, thank you so much for joining us for this journey. Keep following this account for now — we might have some surprises in store later on. 😉
