CAOL ILA. 🌊
Pronounced cull-EE-la — Gaelic for “Sound of Islay,” which is also the stretch of water it stares at all day. The distillery has the best view on the island and the whisky has the manners to match: smoky, yes, but polite about it. The peat tips its cap on the way out.
If Lagavulin is the friend who arrives loud, Caol Ila is the one who arrives early, brings a good bottle of wine, and listens.
“There is no bad whisky. There are only some whiskies that aren’t as good as others.” — Raymond Chandler
