Scotty Thao was a former employee at the cafe. Scotty is a really good guy and deserved to be treated with dignity, but he wasn't at the hands of ICE who are getting more barbaric and brazen with every new encounter with American citizens. We are so very sorry that this happened to you, Scotty.

Federal immigration agents have detained a U.S. citizen in Minnesota at gunpoint without a warrant. That's according to ChongLy “Scott” Thao, who says agents forced open his door, entered with guns drawn and led him outside in his underwear in freezing conditions.

DECLINED? What could this mean when you place a carry out order at Midori's and your order is declined? It is nothing personal. It means we are backed-up at least 90 minutes with other orders and it would be inconsiderate to make you wait that long. We are very distressed at having to decline orders, but this will give you a chance to choose another local restaurant and come back to us at another time. 🌸❤️ Midori & John

Holiday Greetings to you all: We will be open Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. We will be closed Christmas Day and New Years Day. We will be opened Sunday, Dec. 26 and Sunday, Jan. 2 as usual. Have a pleasant holiday and be safe. Midori and John.

Our new space at 35th Avenue South and East Lake Street is coming together - piece by piece. We are hoping to open before the first of the new year, but we are still negotiating with 'fate' for a more speedy outcome. Thank you so much for supporting us, for the last year, in our temporary space at the Seward Cafe. 😊

GOOD NEWS. WE HAVE FOUND A NEW SPACE IN LONGFELLOW. WE WILL KEEP YOU POSTED WITH UPDATES, BUT WE ARE HOPING TO RE-OPEN IN LATE NOVEMBER. WE ARE STILL OFFERING CARRY OUT SERVICE FROM THE SEWARD CAFE UNTIL THEN.

Yesterday, Sunday, October 3. We were robbed, by a man we were trying to help, while providing carryout service at The Seward Cafe. If you live within a six block radius of The Seward Cafe could you all be on the lookout for John's back pack (most likely disposed of in a dumpster or thrown over a fence or in hedges.) It contained a hard drive with all of the cafe files, John's art files, his journal, and phone charger. We would be much appreciative of any help you can offer. Thanks 🌸 neighbors.

As of Monday evening, October 4th, super-sleuth Ian Flomer, doing some deep-'see' dumpster diving, found the two hard drives (yes, there were two). Not sure if they are still functional but glad to have them back just the same. We're changing all our locks as the keys are still missing, and John is mourning the still-lost journal. Thank you all for your best wishes. We are living in interesting times.
