Hey Huron… need more reasons to be proud of your town?!? I’ll be brief, but please stick around till the end! Two things here… first… don’t forget we are open tonight (Thursday) and Friday night from 6:00-9:00 in the evening. And also Saturday and Sunday from 3:00 in the afternoon until 9:00 in the evening. Looking forward to seeing everyone! Summer is winding down, so come see us while you still can!

And most of you know I love a good project! And after the recent storm I needed to clean the windows out front anyway. Well one thing leads to another and… I was able to install downtown’s LATEST… and majorly AWESOMEST… and very much UNIQUE-EST artwork! The five original panes of “transom glass” in our beautifully restored former Habicht’s Department Store now tells the story of the soul of Huron.

Complementing the wonderful style of this 1929 building, this “modern” art deco interpretation emphasizes all things Huron! By day, the art is very subtle. And by night… WOW!… it lights up beautifully!!! It’s meant to be enjoyed in the evening while you are here at POP! having a treat!

Special thanks to Yendy Castillo, who as always knows how to realize my ideas into something truly sophisticated and beautiful! She pulled it all together! A true graphic artist display on a wonderful historic downtown canvas!

Hi folks! Unfortunately, we will not be open today, Sunday July 5. Everyone here at Pop is still helping our friends and neighbors and family in the cleaning efforts. So tired! We look forward to seeing you next week!

On a gratitude note, thanks to our friends at the Scoreboard (Jeremy and Marlena and Matt) for letting us use their big freezer semi trailer this weekend! Without it, we would have lost much during the power outage! Thank you!!!

Hey folks! A few photos of damage downtown from the storm but before that… Just a note that although we finally got power back on at the ice cream shop a couple hours ago, we will be closed tonight (Friday July 3) and tomorrow (July 4). We are dead beat after cleaning up alleys and yards and all else! I’ll bet you are too! But we will see you Sunday!

So the downtown is kind of what you would expect… damage to awnings, storefront windows broken out, bricks and chimneys falling down, metal storefronts torn apart and even a roof (or two) in the city parking lot. But the most heartbreaking…. The loss of the large vintage neon Fair City Lanes Signage. OMG! I’m sure the neon glass is all busted out as the sign got tossed aside by the winds. Glad we all made it through this! See you Sunday at Pop in downtown Huron from 3:00-9:00!
