Sundog Coffee

Nestled in the heart of downtown Madison, we are trying to do something different than the area has ever seen before. Coming together-- from all walks of life, different regions, different ideas-- we created this place to meld our distinct and unique perspectives into one common goal: bring the world to South Dakota. Never satisfied, we never stop moving forward with our endeavor. We are Sundog Coffee.

Theres more than meets the eye here. One look at our inviting store front provides context to the products of our labors. But if you read between the lines, you’ll find that we are more than a coffee shop. Though we do take extreme pride in our espresso beverages, each made with an attention to detail that you will never find in any big chain location, we want to provide so much more to our community than just coffee. Pride, and passion lie at the root of all our offerings. If it’s a drink, we can probably do it. We have dozens of different teas, several smoothies, iced and blended options, ciders, just about anything you can think of. Not to mention we have a rigid schedule of high quality soups during the fall and winter seasons, several bagel sandwich options as well as regular sandwiches and appetizers. And the icing on the cake, our beer and wine selection: two coolers stocked full with different beers from different breweries from as close as Sioux Falls and as far as Great Britain, and a rack of wines with a selection that we think is far more refined and superior to that of any big box store. Combine those with our alcohol off-sale and special order capabilities and you can take the fun home with you, any day of the week. We also have a rigid schedule of events, such as Mingo and Trivia, and the occasional live music or wine tasting event!

But above and beyond what we can provide that is tangible, there is the metaphysical aspect of comfort and inclusivity that we wish to give our community. We want to be a place where anyone feels welcome, and free to indulge. Whether it is playing one of our dozens of board and card games that we provide with their family and friends, or dig into whatever book they’ve been lost in, we want all of our customers to feel safe and welcome in our environment. And if you need private space for a meeting with your business or with your club, our fully furnished basement is always for rent (and free for charity organizations).

Part of our goal here is working closely with our community. Much of what we stock is as local as we can find. And with our Meraki Initiative, local organizations can schedule a Monday with us where we donate 10% of our proceeds to their cause. Community is very important to us, and we believe that a community which works together can grow ad infinitum.
