Update To Our Houston Family,
After more than 42 wonderful years serving Houston, Picos will officially close its current Kirby location on Sunday, August 30, 2026, as the property we call home has been sold for redevelopment.
This is difficult news to share. For more than four decades, Picos has been honored to be part of Houston’s story. We’ve celebrated birthdays and anniversaries, hosted first dates and family reunions, welcomed generations around the same table, and shared countless margaritas, milestones, and memories with all of you.
Since learning of the redevelopment, our family has worked tirelessly to find a new home for Picos. While we remain deeply committed to continuing our family’s legacy in Houston, we have not yet secured a new location. Even if a new home were confirmed soon, it would take time before we could reopen our doors.
Still, while we don’t yet know exactly when or where we’ll welcome you again, we do know this: this is not goodbye. It is simply the close of one chapter as we work toward the next.
Until then, we would love nothing more than to spend these final weeks doing what we have always done: bringing people together around great food, warm hospitality, and the traditions that have defined Picos for generations.
Beginning July 9, we will celebrate our final season with a series of Farewell Dinners honoring the regional Mexican cuisine, stories, and friendships that have shaped Picos for more than four decades. Throughout the next few weeks, we will also:
• Bring back beloved menu favorites
• Celebrate National Tequila Day in true Picos fashion
• Offer special opportunities to gather, reminisce, and celebrate before we close our doors
If you have ever celebrated with us, introduced someone to Picos, or simply considered us your neighborhood restaurant, we hope you will join us one more time. Come revisit your favorite dishes, raise a glass, and help us honor the memories we have shared together.
Thank you for allowing our family to serve you for the past 42 years. Houston has embraced us in ways we could never have imagined, and we are endlessly grateful for every guest, every meal, every celebration and every tradition we have been fortunate enough to share.
We will continue to share updates as they become available. Until then, we look forward to welcoming you back to Picos and celebrating these final weeks together.
With heartfelt gratitude,
The Richards Family
