MEAD 101 🍯⚔️
•Is mead beer… or wine?•
Neither, technically.
Beer- wine-cider-sake-mead, they’re all cousins of each other.
Mead is its own category of alcoholic beverage, made by fermenting honey, water and yeast.
While beer gets its fermentable sugars primarily from grains and wine gets them from grapes, mead gets them from honey.
And just like wine, mead can range from dry to sweet, still to sparkling, light to bold ..depending on how it’s made.
So the next time someone tells you mead is just “honey wine”… now you know. 😉
