Shwmae Ponty! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿☀️

The new specials board is up and yes, before you ask, 🍕 Pizza Ivano is on it again. Back by popular demand and showing no signs of leaving the board anytime soon! 😂

Garlic butter base, 🧀gorgonzola, goat's cheese, onion, walnuts and rocket. Named after the authentic Apulian who runs our socials. 🇮🇹

And if you're around Ponty this weekend and see a suspiciously tanned Italian guy wearing a Luigi hat, please stop him and say hello. 👋😂 It might be Ivano… although, to be honest, the Pizza Ivano is probably easier to recognise!

Alongside that, we have:

Someone messaged us on Instagram this week to say they had asked the AI where the best place to eat in Ponty is. It said Rustico. Best overall.

We are not going to pretend we are shocked.

The regulars worked it out years ago.

Bore da Ponty! ☀️

New week, new specials board and this one has something worth getting out of the house for.

The star this week is the Seafood Pasta. Tagliatelle with cuttlefish, crab and squid in a slow cooked tomato sauce. That kind of dish takes patience to make and about five minutes to finish. That is the difference between Italian cooking and everything else.

To start, a Tomato, Mozzarella and Basil or a Bruschetta Salmone. For mains alongside the seafood, a Veg Lasagna, a Pesto Pasta with fresh mozzarella and crispy Parma ham, and the Pizza Ivano which at this point barely needs an introduction. Garlic butter base, gorgonzola, goats cheese, onion, rocket, walnuts and hot honey.

There is something about a proper crispy lunch that just works, whatever the weather is doing outside.

Our lunch offer is on today until 3, one dish from the lunch menu for £7.50.

The Crocchetta di Pesce e Patate 🐟 is one to try, fish and potato crumbed and fried until golden, served with chips 🍟 and a little salad garnish, and there is a full lunch menu to choose from.

Add a drink 🥤🍺 or a gelato 🍦 and make it £9.95.

Pontypridd is buzzing today as the Big Welsh Bite gets underway at Ynysangharad Park, with food and drink lovers arriving from all over for the weekend.

If you are heading down to explore the stalls, remember we are just a few minutes away on Taff Street whenever you fancy sitting down to something a little more Italian.
Come in before or after we are open all day and always happy to welcome new faces as well as familiar ones.

Bore da Ponty 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿☀️

So many of you have been asking about the beautiful face appearing on the wall just up the road from us, so today we tell her story

Her name was Morfydd, a young woman from just up the road who became one of the most gifted composers Wales has ever produced, and this striking tribute has been brought to life by the wonderfully talented Tee2Sugars 🧑‍🎨

Here is a tip from us, once you have had a good look, cross the road and give yourself twenty seconds walking and you will land right on our doorstep.

We are open from 12 today, so make a morning of it, see the mural, then come sit with us, eat, drink and stay as long as you like.

Ynysangharad Park is alive today for RCT Pride 🏳️‍🌈 2026, and we could not be prouder that our town is the one hosting it.

Music from midday right through to the evening, free entry, and plenty of colour in the park.

We are open from 12pm on Taff Street, so call in for something to eat before you head down, or come and see us after when your feet have had enough.

Everyone is welcome at our tables, always has been.
