Home is a space that benefits our community, the local residents of Earlsfield. We want to show a community-minded spirit in practice and support other local development initiatives. The coffee shop and multi-use community space is a place that is open to all, equipping, empowering and encouraging our local community to explore and develop its potential. As well as being a warm and welcoming cafe, we offers events, courses and workshops that include: creative arts, life skills, health & wellbeing and friendship.

We are fully committed to all the requirements of nationally recognised standards of social enterprise – specifically, being self-sustaining and committed to reinvesting back into the space and the community.

On Wednesday we hosted our 5th annual Mad Hatters Tea Party with !
And what an afternoon it was - scones, teas, sandwiches, songs, jokes and hats!

This annual tradition has become a highlight of the year for us - and for our guests. These events are so full of joy and laughter, and remind us that coming together is an essential antidote to combatting isolation and loneliness which sadly is a reality for so many.

So here’s to having more hats, more singing and more joy in all our lives

Volunteers are a key part of Home Cafe, we simply couldn’t operate without them. We are so grateful to the many people who support us - financially, growing our veg, and giving us their time.

Consideration is central to how Home Community Cafe meets people. It’s an active stance deliberately taken to bring care, compassion and welcome to those that come through the door.

But it also runs through all aspects of the business, encompassing a desire for fairness, care for the planet and for the communities that produce the food and drinks served at the cafe.

We believe in Fun at Home Cafe!
- The use of playfulness or humour as a means of changing the status quo.

Fun is one of our key values and is woven through all that we do. For Home Cafe fun is a vital ingredient within the team, but it also spills out into the life of the cafe. It’s an antidote to some of the hard stuff but it is also an invitation to others to join in a community that celebrates and is joyful, even in the face of difficulties.
 
“We need to not forget to have fun. We deal with some difficult stuff and stressful situations – work can be quite serious, laughter is how we lighten things .”  
 
“We’re fun people! We’re always smiling – we hope this is a massive welcome for people coming in.”
