We’ve welcomed 12 brilliant young people to Nourish this week! They’re arriving with a lot on their plates. None are currently in work & almost all rely on Universal Credit. More than half are struggling with their mental health, and almost all have experienced significant rejection while trying to find work.
That’s a lot to navigate, especially when many have few people in their corner to help them get that all-important foot in the door.
But here’s where things get exciting!
We kicked off the week with a bit of human bingo to get to know each other, followed by creating our own group agreement so everyone can feel safe, supported and ready to learn together.
One of our highlights so far has been our employment session, where we explored the strengths trainees have built through some pretty tough life experiences. It was amazing to help them start seeing that the things they’ve overcome have also helped them develop skills, resilience and qualities that employers value!
This week they’ve also been introduced to their potential work experience partners and have started drafting their very first introductory emails. Small steps, but very important ones!
We've been blown away by how keen, engaged and determined everyone has been from day one. They’re ready to give this opportunity their all, and we can’t wait to see what they achieve.
A huge thank you to everyone who makes Nourish possible. You’re helping young people who’ve faced plenty of closed doors start to see what might be possible when someone opens one.
