“On a recent trip to Argentina, at least 25 minutes
passed before I heard a w**emaker reference
Comando G, the Spanish producer known
for its success with fresh-tasting, whole-cluster
Garnacha. That’s an inordinate amount of time
given that the w**ery is top of mind for numerous
Argentinian vintners, whether they work at an
artisanal scale or produce vast quantities.
Many Argentinian w**emakers speak about
Comando G as though discussing a next-door
neighbour, rather than a w**ery situated over
10,000km away in another country. That most
Argentinians generally consume Argentinian
w**es – for reasons related to currency issues,
tariffs and government import controls – should
make it even harder for Comando G to occupy
such share of mind here, yet the sheer number
of times you hear its name or see its bottles in
Argentina is uncanny.”

THE FESTIVE SEASON AT NOBLE ROT SOHO 🎄🍷✨

Bookings are now open for our private dining room this November & December.

Tucked away on the second floor of our Greek St townhouse, the Soho private dining room and has been the historic setting of many Labour party strategy meetings and clandestine trysts over the years.

The room accommodates up to 10 merry rotters. There are two sittings per day: lunch from 12pm until 5pm, and dinner from 6pm until 11pm. Guests can choose from our seasonal lunch menu or an edited à la carte menu.

“As we’re checking into our Narbonne hotel, the owner asks us if we have a booking for dinner. “Yes,” I say, “at Les Grands Buffets”. Her jaw just about hits the reception desk. “But how?”, she gasps. “It is impossible!” Contrarian that I am, it was only on discovering how hard Les Grands Buffets is to get into that I became determined to go. The pal had suggested it, having found it online somewhere, and my disdain could’ve been seen from space: a serve-yourself buffet? Have you even met me? I’ve done the mega-buffets thing, from Vegas to Macau, and they are very much not my vibe. But he persisted. When I tried to get a booking, the website-only reservations basically shrugged, pas de chance. My determination then solidified into something immovable.”
