A couple of monster strategy games have finally darkened our doors. Galactic Cruise and The Old King's Crown have been huge critical successes but impossible to find in the wild. They are finally here and ready to buy if you like your games big and chonky on the brain.

That's not you, then Jibber Jabble is a tiny, pocket sized cooperative party game we absolutely love. You spell words out as a group to help someone guess words but you don't agree on what the word being spelt out is when the first person goes 'F' to help someone guess 'Apple'. You should say 'R' next, but people don't causing gasps of incredularity amongst your peers. Highly recommended.

It's that time of year when we start doing our School visits. These schools in SD61 have NOT booked anything with us for this year. If you are a teacher or PAC member and want us to come out there head to our website and book away. It's super easy and FREE! Great way to get families out together and playing games.

*yes SD62/63 can book as well

'This or That?' games are pretty common. Red or Yellow mixes it up by crowd sourcing the questions, which are really clever. Each copy has the same 50 questions, plus a random mix of 200 from a pool of 1050. Then an extra 50 to make your own. It's by the people who brought you Hues & Cues, Flip 7 etc...

It's a Target 🎯 exclusive till at least 2027 (boooo, Target sucks) but we have 2 copies to play here.

Our fave family/light strategy games of recent times:

Magical Athlete - You just pick a character and roll a dice and move them that many spaces around a track, cross the finish line first or second to get points. But every racer has a bonkers special power that creates all kinds of crazy interactions that can lead to Zany (what an 80's word) races. The more people (up to 6) the merrier.

Las Vegas - it's been out for 18 years. This is the latest edition though. I WILL NEVER STOP PUSHING THIS GAME, it's awesome. You can get anyone to play and they will have fun. Chuck dice, put them in the matching casino, next player does the same and keep going till everyone has placed all 7 of their dice. Most dice gets the most money on the casino, but if you ever tie with someone on a casino, you both lose. Trust me, it's great. It's also

It's been a hot minute, but here's some of our fave little games from the last little while:

dnup - by the same gent who made Scout. It has similar vibes to Scout but certainly different enough to own both. It's a shedding game (get rid of all your cards) that has lots of clever tactical possibilities that reveal themselves to you the more you play. Probably our fave card game of the year.

Lure - your Dad hates games but likes fishing? Bingo, he'll play this one. You are trying to catch fish in the form of cards. They have requirements, such as you must roll at least a total of 15, but with a 2 showing on one of the dice. However, before you go fishing everyone must secretly bid how many dice you will roll. The person who shows the least dice gets to roll first (less chance to catch the fish though) and then the next lowest etc... A fun gambly little game.

Push - came out a fair while a go but it's finally back in stock again. If you like Flip 7, it has a similar feel but a little more strategic. You are trying to pool cards into up to 3 piles without busting. If you don't bust , you get to choose a pile first then others pick going round the table. Some of those piles will contain some nasty cards though...

Catan on the Road - it's like Catan and Monopoly Deal had a baby. 15 minute Catan. It really works.

Symbiose - This game takes up a lot of space for such a tiny box. In it, you'll acquire 8 cards in a 2 by 4 grid. The 2 on the left will score using symbols on your neighbor on the lefts cards and the 2 cards on the right use your neighbor in the rights cards. Your 4 in the middle use your 8 cards. It becomes an interesting dance of trying to maximise your own cards while being cognisent of not helping your neighbors.

Moustache - A trick taking game played over 4 rounds. Each round you'll add a new rule. You'll also play in partnerships with other players but the partnerships will also change every round. The cards are all shiny and the higher the number the bigger the moustache. You already know if this game is for you.
