There’s a second story to this one… but I’m not telling 🤫

Behind the Counter with l’Americano. The sandwich, not the drink.

This one goes back to late nights in New York. No plans, no hotel, just wandering until we landed exactly where we were supposed to be.

So we brought that energy back to Toronto and gave it the Nonna Lia spin.

Pastrami stacked into housemade focaccia, full-sour pickles, and mustard mayo tying it all together.

The name?

That’s the second story, and that one is staying with me 😌

The tomato asteroid is here 🍅🦖

If you asked me what the most expensive sandwich to make in 2026 would be, I definitely wouldn’t have said Caprese.

But here we are.

Tomato prices are up 300%. I had to double, then triple check the invoice to make sure I wasn’t hallucinating 😅

Good news is we are still rocking it in the kitchen.

🍅 Fresh hot house tomatoes.
🍅 Juicy baked grape tomatoes.
🧀 High-quality fior di latte.
🌿 And our house basil pesto with hydroponic Genovese basil.

At this point, it might be the most luxurious thing on our menu. So yeah…enjoy it while we still can.

Sometimes, the team wins the battle 👇

If there's one thing I've learned, it’s that around 1pm each day our front of house team quietly disappears to load up on Tuna Melts.

After watching them devour one too many, we finally decided to make it official.

A Tuna Melt loaded in a Focaccia Sandwich.

The testing process brought back memories of childhood days getting toasty at the beach, and the final result somehow managed to impress even the toughest critics in the building 🧀
