Shark cage!
When I can't fully supervise little Mako, the best strategy is to keep her separated from adult dogs. Separation is not isolation. In today's example, I'm getting prepped to enjoy some outside-office time. Mako and I will hang out in the shark cage, and the other dogs have the freedom to approach (or not!) as they see fit. Generally, they hover nearby and do their own thing, napping, chewing, exploring, etc.
This lets me concentrate on what I'm doing, without missing any potential problems. And, the big dogs all definitely agree that the teeth on this tiny shark are a problem when she's not well managed. Mako learns to entertain herself or relax without getting into mischief. If any of the big dogs are feeling up to a puppy play, they come to the gate and ask in for some one on one time- which is usually brief at this point!
