Happy Canada DayšŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦

What a fun morning we had handing out chocolates in my hometown. I’ve been going to the Salmon Festival since I was a kid and it’s such a special moment to bring my own kiddos and hand out chocolates.

Also, big thanks to my friends for helping me handout Mindful Monk chocolate bars. Honest real chocolate. No sugar. No sugar alcohols. No stevia.

Received our biggest order to date from our amazing cacao dealers Cacao Life. We are grateful we can buy our ingredients directly from the farmers so that they earn a fair wage. And honestly, who doesn’t love Peruvian cacao? As long as it’s available, it’s all we will use.

Ps thanks Niamh for helping with receiving the pallet. You did good little one.

When Brandi and Desiree (the co-founder of Eversio Wellness | Functional Mushrooms and their in-house naturopathic doctor) compare your chocolate bars to a snickers bar, it’s a win!

Thank you so much Brandi Garden | Author | NCS Consultant and Dr. Desiree Caruso, ND. More clips from their podcast will be shared soon!

The past 6 years have been focused on building Mindful Monk and making chocolate so that we had a product worthy of your support. That involved being in the kitchen all the time to figure out operations as a solo founder and the only employee. So as you can imagine it was pretty hard to get into the market to do store visits and talk to our partners to learn what was working and what wasn’t. It got to the point where I actually started to feel too embarrassed to visit a store because they have been carrying Mindful Monk for years and I never checked in.

Fast forward to year 5, I hired my first employee and together we streamlined operations. Then in year 6 we build our own production facility and 6 months later I am finally making the time to go see Mindful Monk in the wild and learn from our partners while also educating them on why we do this.

Calgary was my first work trip like this and it was AWESOME!!! Thank you Daryl Hiebert and team Jonluca Neal for making time to show us around.

We visited our amazing retail partners Community Natural Foods and Calgary Co-op.

Had our first training session to talk about the story behind Mindful Monk, the clean ingredients and to answer any questions they had (I loved geeking out on ingredients and how food affects your health).

Checked out our products on store shelves to make sure the dates were good and learning about consumer feedback by talking to the people on the floor. Of course we thanked them by showering them with Mindful Monk chocolate bars.

Had a meeting with a potential new account…stay tuned.

Dropped off product to one of our amazing customers and had a nice chat.

Went to Ranchman’s for a birthday and it was fun to watch line dancing and two step.

Next morning it was off to Rviita Ā® Energy Tea community walk/run and it’s so inspiring to see their community support them. Had a lovely chat with Karly Jacobsen ✨.

It was the best first trip and I look forward to many more of these. Big thanks to Danielle Lemoine for coming along.

Thanks for watching

Today has been off to rough start yet here I am making a post. It’s been over 6 years since I started this business. Did I make the right choice? I had a full time paying job, time with my family, was working with my best friend. I chose to give that all up to start something I believe in so that i could help others.

But that hasn’t helped me personally (yet!). I’m paying everyone but myself to keep this going and when you have a family of 5, that’s tough. I love receiving payments in testimonials, feedback and success stories. Time to share those so that we can have more people trying our chocolates and in turn I can keep doing what I love.

Part 2 - The reason I turned my chocolates into a business was because I survived a near death after 30 minutes after her birth. This photo represents the moment I went from someone who believed everything happens TO me, to everything happens FOR me.

At my first postpartum mental health appointment a couple of weeks after her birth, the psychiatrist asked me how I was feeling and if there was anything I wanted to start with. My reply: ā€œI got a second chance at life, I’m not gonna waste it. I need to help others but I don’t know how. Maybe I’ll sell my chocolates. They helped me when I was managing my gestational diabetes, I’m sure they can help just one person.ā€

And that’s it. I haven’t looked back since. I am so grateful for all the emails, dms and people I meet IRL who these chocolates have helped. Getting to do what I do is a gift. I will never take this for granted and will always use the best, cleanest ingredients possible because I can.

Thanks for being here. There’s more to come and I’m gonna start geeking out on our why, the ingredients we choose and of course health benefits because we all deserve to feel good!

Everyday I tell my kids to be BRAVE.

And being brave is when you do something even though you are too scared to do it.

Here is a photo of me being brave.

Last time I saw Michele Romanow was at CHFA Toronto 2025. The show was done, everyone was rushing to pack up and she happened to be standing at the booth next to me. She looked over and smiled, and my brain was screaming go say hi, but being too scared and thinking all the negative thoughts, I just smiled back and started packing.

Fast forward to May 21, I was invited to an event by Visa and guess who was the keynote speaker? This time I told myself I was going to be brave, introduce myself and Mindful Monk and just put myself in front of her because you never know.

After her talk, which by the way made me admire her even more (one word: caviar), I jumped up and introduced myself. I was very nervous speaking to someone who’s inspired me so much that I even mumbled I’m scared and she looked me in the eye and said, don’t be. That alone calmed me and. allowed me to share my story, give her some yummy chocolates and take a photo.

The reason I’m sharing this is because entrepreneurship is all about the highs and very lows and doing things you never thought you would. And getting to share those experiences with others is a gift. Something I’ve learned in the last six years of doing this is that the thing you want is always on the other side of the thing you’re too scared to do. So just go and do it!

Thank you Visa for hosting this event and giving me a second chance to meet Michele. Thank you Michele for your inspiring talk and for your kindness. I hope you had a chance to try the chocolates and enjoyed them!

Happy Mother’s Day from us to all of you amazing mamas out there.

I love how my own mother went to just to take a picture with my chocolates to show me how proud she is of me 😭 Her message to me was literally: did you go eat yet for Mother’s Day? Me and your sister are going to walk to Cambie Whole Foods to look at your fudge.

Thanks mommy. I am so lucky to call you my mom ā¤ļø
