Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we take time to listen, learn and reflect.

The Barley Merchant is located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Coast Salish peoples, specifically the q̓ʷɑ:n̓ƛ̓ən̓ (Kwantlen), q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie), Máthxwi (Matsqui), and se’mya’me (Semiahmoo) First Nations.

We acknowledge the history and ongoing impacts of the residential school system, and honour the Survivors, their families, and the children who never returned home.

As a local business, we believe being part of a community also means continuing to learn about the history of the land we live and work on, and recognizing the responsibility we all share in moving reconciliation forward.

Today, and beyond today, we encourage our team and our community to listen to Indigenous voices, learn from their stories and experiences, and consider what reconciliation means through our own actions.

Langley Burger Month is back for YEAR TWO, starting October 1st and we’ve added more local restaurants to the table!

19 independent restaurants, one whole month of burgers, friendly competition and local flavour!

The Barley Merchant is coming in hot with our JALAPEÑO DOUBLE SMASH BURGER 🌶️

Double beef patties, double jalapeño Jack cheese, fried jalapeño rings, black garlic jalapeño aioli, honey mustard Hobbs Pickles, and shaved iceberg, all stacked on a toasted brioche bun!

Yeah… you’re going to need both hands!!

F Ō M • Three BC b**rs… three Czech side pull taps… one delicious reason to embrace the foam. 🍺

Our LUKR CZ taps give our bartenders precise control over both b**r and foam.

The “side” handle operates a ball valve, while a fine screen inside helps create that dense, silky “wet foam.”

Opening the tap slightly builds the creamy head; opening it further lets the b**r flow beneath it.

The result?

A soft, velvety first sip, with crisp b**r underneath. That beautiful foam cap also helps protect the b**r from oxygen and retain its carbonation.

It’s part of the experience, so sip right through it!

D I R T Y S U N D AY • Every Sunday at The Barley Merchant we slash $2 off our world famous Dirty Bird Fried Chicken Sandwich!

We’ve sold over 60,000 of these bad boys since opening day and it remains our guests’ top choice.

BC chicken breast, marinated in a buttermilk bath and then coated in our gluten free house breading.

Once fried to a golden brown we toss it our house infused chili oil and hit it with our signature dirty bird spice.

Finish it off with some chipotle aioli, shredded cabbage and of course, some honey mustard Hobbs Pickles for a nice tangy crunch!

All piled on to a warm toasted brioche.

Pair with a juicy Motel Pale Ale from The Parkside Brewery and you’ve got yourself one heck of a meal guaranteed to satisfy any fried chicken sandwich enthusiast!!

G N O C C H I • Our house made Parisienne style Gnocchi has seen a few different versions over the years but none have been as popular at our current one!

Made with a wild mushroom mix from Aldergrove’s Myca Farms sautéed with Pork Belly Lardons, peas, fresh herbs and salted butter.

Then topped with a dollop of creamy Burrata that melts in to the dish as you eat it!!

If you haven’t checked this one out, be sure to consider it on your next visit!

Pair it with a nice crisp Pilsner or an amber l***r from our Czech Side Pull taps to cut through the richness of the dish.

F I R E🔥R E L I E F • When wildfires impacted Summerland and the surrounding South Okanagan recently, our friends in the coastal craft b**r community started asking the same question:

How can we help?

Tomorrow, Thursday, September 3rd, we’re putting that support into action.

The Barley Merchant will be donating 50% of ALL b**r sales to support breweries and hospitality friends in the South Okanagan who have been impacted by the fires.
