In Loving Memory of Allen Thompson

On behalf of the Latin American Health Alliance and everyone at Café Reyes, we extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the entire Thompson family on the passing of Allen.

Allen grew up in Cuba and held a special place in his heart for Café Reyes, where he loved to come for coffee and meals. He was cherished by everyone at the café, and we all thought the world of him. His presence, warmth, and connection to our community will be deeply missed.

It was an honor for Café Reyes to be able to serve his family during this difficult time and to be part of honoring his life and memory.

May the love he shared, the memories he created, and the legacy he leaves behind continue to bring strength, comfort, and peace to all who knew and loved him.

We are honored and grateful to announce that the Latin American Health Alliance has been awarded a $250,000 FY2027 Social Enterprise Capital Grant through the Massachusetts Executive Office of Economic Development!

This investment will help strengthen and expand Café Reyes, creating more opportunities for workforce development, job training, and economic empowerment in our community.

A heartfelt thank you to Governor Maura Healey, Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll, and the Executive Office of Economic Development for recognizing the impact of social enterprises like Café Reyes and for investing in organizations that create pathways to employment and long-term success.

Every cup of coffee, catered event, and community partnership helps advance our mission. We are excited for what this next chapter means for Worcester and the individuals we serve through employment, training, and recovery-focused opportunities.

Hello. I wanted to let you know Cafe Reyes will be closed July 4 th.
As our nation marks its 250th anniversary, I reflect not only on the history of the United States, but on the many journeys, struggles, and hopes that have shaped the people who call this country home.

I am proud to be from Puerto Rico, a place rich in culture, resilience, family, and tradition. My story is also one of recovery, a journey that has taught me the power of perseverance, community, forgiveness, and the opportunity to begin again.

Recovery has shown me that freedom is not only something written in history books; it is something we experience when we reclaim our lives, rebuild relationships, and find purpose. Every person deserves the chance to heal, contribute, and be seen for who they are and who they can become.

As we celebrate 250 years, I honor the generations before us who fought for a better future and recognize that our nation continues to grow through the voices and experiences of people from every background, including those of us from Puerto Rico.

My hope for the next 250 years is a country where compassion is stronger than judgment, where recovery is embraced as a journey of courage, and where every person has the opportunity to live with dignity, hope, and belonging.
