Who will grow the future?

Across coffee-growing regions and here in Wisconsin, farmers are aging and fewer young people are entering agriculture. The challenges are different in every place, but the question is often the same: who will carry this work forward?

In our latest journal entry, we explore the realities pushing younger generations away from farming, and share the stories of three coffee producers who chose a different path. Through education, innovation, and a belief that coffee can create meaningful opportunity, they’re helping build a future worth returning to.

Colombia Process & Varietal Tasting Experience at Wonderstate Madison

Join our Director of Coffee, Nick Brehany, at our Madison shop as we tour Colombia through coffee. Nick will be brewing up all three coffees in our latest Reserve Lot set, showcasing the intersection of innovation, terroir, and experience in Colombia. You’ll leave with your very own Reserve Lot box with 100g of each coffee.

From an intensely fruited Sidra to a brilliantly floral Gesha and a deeply complex Chiroso, these coffees express the remarkable range and potential of Colombian coffee today. They are vivid, expressive, and fleeting reminders that specialty coffee is as artisanal as it is ephemeral.

Colombia is home to extraordinary coffees, many of which go unseen and unrewarded. With this collection, we honor the work of Leonardo Henao, Stiv Brayan Cañar, and Marlon Bolaños, three producers whose dedication and craft shine through in every cup.

Father and son, Albino and Saulo Ibias, bring together a lifetime of farming wisdom and a sharp, modern eye for quality. Their selection of SL9 (Gesha Inka), a variety only now gaining the recognition it deserves, is nothing short of stunning.

🍈 Tropical canary melon. 🍑 Ripe red peach. Candy-like sweetness, crystalline acidity, and brilliant jasmine florals tie it all together.

🍓 We’re back with another incredible coffee from Nariño, Colombia, and it keeps pulling us in deeper.

The latest from Finca Toldopamba is everything we love about natural processing done right: wild fruit, real structure, and a clarity that’s genuinely rare. Tart strawberry and lingonberry up front, then a rich cacao sweetness that ties it all together. ✨🍫

Reserve Lot n.4: Colombia Variety Set 🌺 ☕️ 🌿

Three varieties. Three processing methods. Three distinct regions. This is our love letter to the Colombian producers helping shape the future of specialty coffee. 
In the ☕️:
Chiroso with dark berry and blossoming oregano florals, a Sidra so tropically intense it stops you mid-sip (jammy Concord grape, pineapple, stone fruit), and a Gesha that’s pure jasmine and rose with Kenyan-level blackberry depth. Colombia contains multitudes, and this set is proof. 🍓🌸✨
