Tonight, we had the honor of attending the Greater Topeka Partnership Small Business Awards. First, we want to sincerely thank the Greater Topeka Partnership for hosting such an incredible evening and for the support they continue to show small businesses in our community.
Going into the night, we were simply grateful to be named a Top 3 finalist for the Gold Spoon Award alongside Bobby Santacroce and Pedro Concepcion — two people who have not only been mentors to Jake, but genuine friends to us. Honestly, just being considered in the same category as them felt like a win to us.
To then hear The Tee Box announced as the recipient of the Gold Spoon Award — and later the 2026 TopCity Small Business of the Year Award — was something we still haven’t fully processed.
What people don’t always see behind a small business are the long days, late nights, risks, sacrifices, setbacks, and perseverance it takes to keep moving forward. The theme for tonights dvent was so spot on! There were seasons this journey felt incredibly heavy, but God continually placed the right people around us at the right time. He is good, all the time.
To our team — past and present — thank you. These awards belong to you just as much as it does us. Every shift worked, every event executed, every golf bay reset, every dish washed, every customer cared for, and every behind-the-scenes effort helped build what The Tee Box is today and we love you more than you know.
To Bobby and Pedro, thank you for your friendship, mentorship, and leadership. We respect you both deeply.
To our families, our community leaders, fellow business owners, and to every customer who has walked through our doors, booked a bay, attended an event, shared a post, told a friend about us, prayed for us or chosen to spend your time and money with us — thank you for giving this dream life. The Tee Box exists because of your support.
This award is an incredible honor, but more than anything, it’s a reminder that community matters, hard work matters, and people matter.
