Ten years ago, we opened GRIT with no idea what it would become. We only hoped people would come. Over the years, it became more than a restaurant. It became a gathering place, a community, and a huge part of our lives. Last month, 400 people came to celebrate ten years with us and we left that evening overwhelmed by the love of this community. It reminded us what GRIT has always been about: people. Over the last few years, though, we’ve had some hard conversations. Owning GRIT has been one of the greatest joys of our lives, but somewhere along the way, we realized the restaurant was asking more of us than we had left to give. It began affecting our health, our marriage, our family, and the life we’d worked so hard to build together. Eventually, we had to ask ourselves a question we could no longer avoid: Did we want the next ten years to look like the last? As difficult as it was, we knew the answer. This wasn’t a financial decision. It was about health, sustainability, and creating a future that allows us to keep doing what we love. We also realized something else. We weren’t ready to leave GRIT, we were ready to evolve it. So, after a great deal of reflection, we’re excited to introduce the next chapter. A&N Catering will continue with new opportunities ahead. Here, in the place that has always been home, we’ll introduce The Gathering Table by GRIT: reservation-only events, communal dinners, private dining, chef collaborations, pop-ups, holiday gatherings, and special events created to bring people together around the table. To make that possible, we’ll conclude regular restaurant service. During our final week, we’ll host The Next Course: a series of ticketed dinners and a Sunday Jazz Brunch where we can celebrate as a community. These gatherings will be our farewell to regular service and our first glimpse of what’s next. Because this isn’t simply the end of one chapter, it’s the beginning of the next. To every guest, employee, artist, musician, vendor, and friend who has been part of our story-thank you.
