The History of the Inn
Ever since horse buggies visited the Clifford Lake Hotel, guests have enjoyed the charm of the area. The Inn has weathered many storms and has been in operation through many major events that have shaped our wonderful country since its beginning in 1881. The Inn welcomed travelers when cars and televisions were introduced. Guests were sitting around the Hotel discussing the World Wars, presidents’ assassinations, and men walking on the moon. The inn has survived the Great Depression, a huge fire, and years of neglect. Regardless of the situation, the Inn has always opened its doors to welcome guests and bring warm smiles to their faces. We hope you enjoy your visit to the Inn and that you feel the warmth and love that has kept this old building running for over 135 years. Thank you for coming!

🍂 Seasons Change, But Clifford Will Always Feel Like Home. ⚓️

Summertime may be what brings everyone to the lake, but there’s something special about every season here.

We’re soaking up every last bit of deck time, beautiful lake views, and wood-fired pizza before the cooler weather settles in….

🍕🍁 Our fall and winter hours will be changing soon, but we’re open year-round!

The restaurant world is very rough, so please be kind and think of us often…

When I first came to Clifford Lake Inn, one of the things I fell in love with was how people treated each other like family, not just neighbors. People walked together, vacationed together, and watched each other’s kids grow up. 

Over the years, we’ve watched people get older, friendships change, and some familiar faces leave us. And those people are missed more than they know. ❤️

But one thing I hope never changes is the feeling of belonging here…. Thank You for those that have helped us along the way..

The seasons may change, but you’ll always have a place called home here.❤️🍂

🍇 Balsamic Grape Burrata – Fresh burrata, Michigan grapes, and a sweet balsamic finish.

🥣 Soup of the Day – French Onion Crock or Tomato-Basil Bisque. Perfect for a cozy fall evening!

🥗 Fall Apple Salad – Fresh Michigan apple medley, dried cherries, red onion, walnuts, blue cheese, and house-made maple-Dijon vinaigrette.

🥪 Grilled Cheese & Tomato-Basil Bisque – A comforting classic with a delicious twist!

🌮 Steak Tacos (2) – Marinated grilled steak, pico de gallo, Colby cheese, lettuce, and a drizzle of tortilla chips crema.

🐟 Beer-Battered Walleye – Northern Canadian walleye, beer-battered and fried to perfection, served with mashed potatoes, broccoli, and our house tartar sauce.
