The annual Gumshoe 5K walk starts today! Since 2005, the fundraiser and scavenger hunt has been challenging participants to solve their way through 30 clues and 5 kilometers of Seattle’s Phinney Ridge/Greenwood neighborhood, all for the chance to win prizes from sponsors like us (Take 5 gift card!!!) and raise funds for local non-profits. The Gumshoe has raised nearly $100,000 since it started, and this year, all proceeds will be donated to the Ballard Food Bank and Aurora Commons.
đź‘ź Last year we were the start and finish location and are proud to be a sponsor.
đź‘ź The Gumshoe goes through August 23, giving you plenty of time to complete the walk at your pace (experienced pros say it takes about 3 hours if you want to knock it all out in a day).
đź‘ź Register online at the link in the first comment ($25 per person, with discounts for group registrations), or register in person at Greenwood Hardware (7201 Greenwood Ave N). Then head to the start and end point, PCC Greenlake (7504 Aurora Ave N), to get started! Have fun!

Tonight’s the annual city-wide Seattle Night Out! We love this nationwide event (National Night Out) that is locally promoted by SPD Crime prevention (link in first comment for more info) to promote neighborhood watch groups. We can’t wait to see the parties in the neighborhood!

Be the block party hero with something sharable from Take 5. Might we suggest:

With Italian sandwiches all the rage, we decided our take on it would flip the script on one of our most popular sandwiches. Meet the Cold Grilled Chicken Italian: Thin slices of our savory marinated chicken breast, salami, pepperoni, pepperoncinis, vinaigrette, sliced provolone cheese, sun-dried tomato aioli, lettuce, and tomato on a ciabatta bun. And in case you’re wondering… we shred all our own lettuce. 🙂
