Before the Plaza was a plaza, before the cathedral had a name, before Santa Fe was anything at all — there were burros. They moved through this valley in long slow lines, carrying everything a civilization needed to survive.

The third annual Camino de los B***os wound through downtown Santa Fe on Mother’s Day morning — starting at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, through B***o Alley, and around the Plaza. A celebration of the animals who carried this city into existence, and a reminder that some debts are too old to fully repay. 💛
