The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a dangerous text message scam circulating in our community.

Citizens are receiving messages claiming to be from “Arkansas District Court” threatening arrest, license suspension, or legal action unless immediate payment is made through a link.

⚠️ THIS IS A SCAM.

Let us be clear:

❌ Courts do NOT send summons by text message
❌ Law enforcement will NEVER demand payment through a link
❌ Threats of immediate arrest are a common scam tactic

These scammers are attempting to create panic, especially targeting seniors and unsuspecting citizens.

🚫 DO NOT:
• Click the link
• Respond to the message
• Provide personal or financial information

✅ DO:
• Delete the message
• Report it to your local law enforcement agency
• Warn your family and loved ones
