About No Limits Cafe
No Limits Cafe is a nonprofit restaurant dedicated to creating meaningful employment opportunities and providing job training for adults with intellectual disabilities. Through our work, we help employees build confidence, develop valuable workplace skills, and work toward greater independence.
We are expanding our mission to the Rutgers University campus, where we will be opening a new coffee shop within the Mason Gross School of the Arts.
We are seeking a passionate, supportive, and organized Employee Development Manager to help our employees succeed, grow, and thrive in their roles.
Position Overview
The Employee Development Manager is responsible for supporting the professional development and independence of employees with intellectual disabilities. This position works closely with employees and the cafe team to identify individual strengths, provide appropriate support, adapt responsibilities when needed, and create opportunities for continued growth.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about helping individuals with intellectual disabilities develop workplace skills, gain confidence, and work toward greater independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Support employees in developing and strengthening their workplace skills.
- Monitor employee progress and identify opportunities for continued growth.
- Help employees build confidence and work toward greater independence.
- Develop individualized employee development plans and track progress over time.
- Modify tasks, responsibilities, and training approaches to meet individual employee needs.
- Provide coaching, encouragement, and ongoing feedback.
- Collaborate with the Cafe Supervisor and cafe team to create a supportive, inclusive, and successful work environment.
- Identify barriers to employee success and develop practical strategies to address them.
- Help employees develop transferable skills that support their long-term employment goals.
- Assist with employee training and provide ongoing support as employees learn new responsibilities.
- Balance individual employee development needs with the operational needs of a working coffee shop.
Qualifications & Requirements
-Must be 18 years of age or older
-Experience in Special Education or working with individuals with intellectual disabilities — Required**
-Experience in the food and beverage industry — Preferred**
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Patient, supportive, and adaptable approach to employee development.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and empowering individuals with disabilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cafe leadership and staff.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to individual employee needs.
Schedule & Compensation
- Immediate start available.
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM during the Rutgers Fall and Spring semesters.
- Occasional weekend work may be required as needed.
- Summers and Rutgers University holidays off.
- Compensation:*Hourly rate based on experience.
