🏝️ CAST AWAY: SURVIVED! 🏐⛳

Our Cast Away Couples 9-Hole Event on Friday, August 14th put our castaways’ golf skills—and their survival skills—to the test!

Couples played our 2-Person “Survival” Scramble, with island challenges scattered throughout the course offering chances to subtract strokes from their final score.

And for our eventual champions, those survival bonuses made all the difference.

🏆 Congratulations to Nick & Erin Guth, who finished with a net 27 to win the event in a scorecard playoff over Jon & Kathy Althof.

Nick & Erin actually shot a gross 34, then managed to knock an impressive 7 strokes off their score through the challenges:

🏐 Wilson Volleyball Serve Challenge: –4 strokes
📦 FedEx Package Challenge: –2 strokes
🏐 Wilson Carry Relay: –1 stroke — working together, they successfully carried Wilson the required 20 yards in under 30 seconds without using their hands and without dropping him, earning another valuable survival bonus.

Apparently, they were just as good at surviving the island as they were at playing golf!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for another excellent turnout and, especially, for continuing to get into the spirit of these events. The costumes and creativity have become almost as much fun as the golf.

And then there was Guy Busch, proving that after enough time stranded on an island, even Wilson starts looking like a perfectly acceptable hairstyle. 😂🏐

We’re not entirely sure whether he was stranded with Wilson... or became Wilson.

Last week, River Road Trio proved that sometimes the perfect song really does find the perfect setting. 🎶⛳

Their take on John Fogerty’s “Centerfield” brought a little ballpark energy to the Hard Decks Sound Stage—and when a band is willing to take requests and bounce from rock to country, pop and everything in between, you never quite know what’s coming next.

All we can say is...“Put me in, Coach!” 😄

🪩 THIS THURSDAY: That Gurl!

If you've been waiting for a night to break out the bell-bottoms, platform shoes and your best ’70s look, this is it.

That Gurl is a full-on party band built for the dance floor, bringing a high-energy mix of disco, funk, rock and pop with favorites spanning the '70s, '80s and '90s. Think powerhouse female vocals, big dance hits and the kind of songs that make it awfully difficult to stay in your chair.

Unfortunately, Mother Nature left us without any highlights to share from last Thursday. 🌧️ With the rain forcing us to cancel Thursdays at the Pointe, our usual look back at the previous week's performance just wasn't possible.

So instead of looking back, we're giving you a look at what's coming this Thursday. 🎶

This week's musical guest, River Road Trio, returns to the Hard Decks Sound Stage at Timber Pointe, and this video of their 2024 performance of Matchbox Twenty's "3AM" gives you a pretty good idea of what you're in for.

We've heard some incredible guitars, horns, drums and voices this summer—but this week, the piano gets its turn in the spotlight. 🎹 Watch around the 2:00-minute mark, when Kyle takes over the keys and shows just how well he can tickle the ivories.

And here's what really makes River Road Trio different: covering rock, country, folk and pop, they're the one band on our schedule that regularly takes requests right from the audience—and plays them on the spot. So start thinking about what you want to hear! 🎶

⚠️ **WEATHER UPDATE** ⚠️

Due to the rain and forecast for this evening, we have made the difficult decision to **cancel tonight's Thursdays at the Pointe event.**

While we're disappointed that we won't be able to turn back the clock and enjoy a night of '70s rock, pop and disco together, the **safety and comfort of our guests, performers, food truck partners, and team must come first.**

But here's the good news...

🪩 **That 70's Band Chicagoland has already been rescheduled!** 🪩

They'll return to Timber Pointe on **Thursday, September 24th**, giving us another chance to break out the bell bottoms, platform shoes and boogie shoes for one of the most fun shows of the year.

So hang onto that '70s outfit—we're just postponing the party, not canceling it! ✌️🕺💃

Prince songs don't come around very often at "Thursdays at the Pointe"...which is exactly why I wanted to share this one.

The Boom Boom Room put their own spin on "Pop Life," reminding everyone just how timeless Prince's music really is. As Prince sings, "Everybody needs a thrill," and judging by the crowd, they found it. If you weren't here last Thursday, turn it up, watch the video, and see what you missed. 💜🎶

That 70's Band Chicagoland returns to the Hard Decks Sound Stage for one of the most entertaining nights of the summer. "Lotta Lovin'" isn't just the name of the song...it's exactly the kind of feeling Dirty Fishnet Stockings brought to Timber Pointe last Thursday.

One of the things that makes rockabilly so much fun is that it has a way of getting people up and dancing just about anywhere. Don't believe me? Watch this video.

About a minute in, you'll spot a couple dancing together right on the sidewalk. They didn't need a dance floor, fancy lights, or an invitation—they just heard the music and couldn't help themselves.

Maybe that's the secret to rockabilly...when the music is this much fun, the dance floor can be anywhere. 💃🎸

This Thursday, the soundtrack changes once again.

We're excited to welcome The Boom Boom Room back to the Hard Decks Sound Stage at Timber Pointe! They're far from your average bar band, delivering an entertaining mix of rock, blues, funk, and soul with songs you know and love from the '70s through today. If you enjoy great musicians, outstanding vocals, and a playlist that keeps everyone happy, this is a show you won't want to miss.
