Ten Drops Coffee

Ten Drops Coffee We deserve local, fresh coffee in Plainfield. Ten Drops is committed to honestly sourcing, carefully roasting and meticulously extracting liquid joy.

Ten Drops derives its name from a Icelandic/Scandinavian idea "Tíu dropar." In essence, it's polite to offer a visitor coffee, but maybe you're hoping they won't hog all of it--save some for the fish! And on the other side it's maybe uncomfortable to turn down that hospitality, or rude to drink all of the available coffee... so you'd say "just ten drops"--just a little coffee!. Our goal is to brin

g independent, local, specialty coffee to Plainfield. We deserve a place to get beans that are within days of their roast date, not weeks or months. Those who understand specialty coffee, know the difference. Those who don't know what the fuss is about... maybe we can help. We will only offer things that we would be thrilled to drink. There is no good reason to drink bad coffee.

⚡ PSA: We’re doing the best we can over here, but the power has gone out AGAIN at the brewery.

Until power is restored, we’ll have to wait to open. Our goal is to open at 3 PM if they can get the power back up and running.

Thank you for all the support, love, patience, and good vibes while we ride out this latest adventure. We appreciate you more than you know. ❤️

WEDNESDAY: Power is out at the building again. We can’t make beverages for now. We are staying open for the time being, expecting to be able to serve later today. Will update if that changes.

Power is out at the building, so barring unlikely quick fixes, we’re calling it a day. We’ll update ya!

HEY!

Fantasy football!

How about a league… $40 per team, 12 team max, I buy us a dorky trophy that we display at the shop, 100% of all money goes to a kids cancer charity, and the 1st place team gets 5 bags and 5 drinks, second place gets 3 bags, 3 drinks, 3rd place gets 2 bags, 2 drinks, and the rest of us get NAAAAAAHTHING!

Who is interested?

Live draft at WerkForce IN AUGUST.

Every team gets a free drink if the Bears finish better than the Packers.

Just sort of trying to be a little granular and transparent about this… the Kenya coffee we put on this week is priced $1 less than it should be, as is the Colombia medium and the Costa Rica Black Honey.

We don’t have a way to refund what tariff stuff did to coffee during 2025, because it’s thousands of individual bag purchases. That coffee just simply “cost more” at the register.

Until whatever we get in tariff refund from our importers is all spoken for (we have not recouped much yet) we will be reducing the price of completely unrelated coffee. It’s the best way to be fair to regular consumers of our coffee.

We did not raise beverage prices during the tariff madness. When you notice prices being microscopically higher on drinks, that’s the sales tax change in IL. I will delete any comment about taxes in Illinois. You are warned on that—nothing personal, just not a topic we’ll allow.

The Kenya is punching hard, and is a bright light roast. It’s awesome for filter coffee and iced pourovers. It will sell out by the middle of the weekend at its current pace. The Costa Rica is a fruit bomb. A little lower perceived acidity than the Red Honey, but bigger fruit. It will be here for a couple of months. The Colombia pink bourbon was roasted to a light medium because it also performs there, and we didn’t want all 3 single origins to have tart, super bright vibes. It’s a fantastic pot of coffee.

We are bringing the Papua New Guinea Kinmuga Peaberry back. Probably 2 weeks from now? Should be exactly the same vibes as before. Several people insisted it was their favorite in a long time, so it’s on. 🙂

Ethiopia is now scheduled to land by the end of the month. Honduras will land during the month and into early September. So you have a window into a lot of what we’re planning to offer this fall and winter. And yeah, we’re saving a Costa Rica Alma Negra for November/December.

Quick coffee update:

There’s plenty of Costa Rica Red Honey in the cafe, but what’s in there is the end of it!

There are only a couple bags of light roast Colombia left. And a couple bags of medium while I’m at it, but we’re making a ton more medium tomorrow. The light roast is done for this coffee though, because we’re also bringing out 2 new coffees this weekend.

Black Honey Costa Rica and the first Kenya of this summer.

Enjoy!
