Well, Friends, It’s time to start saying goodbye.
Rebecca and I started our little pop up business over seven years ago, serving multi-course dinners out of a cramped, makeshift kitchen in the back room of . Soon we began offering our services as hospitality guns-for-hire to anyone who would have us.
After having done several successful brunches with our friends at , the owner Megan tipped us off about a storefront. A few months later, we took over the storefront at 600 Brookline Boulevard. Our cozy little restaurant that existed only in our imagination was about to become reality.
The Covid 19 pandemic changed our trajectory entirely. The pre-Covid hospitality industry that we loved had begun to change, so we changed with it. Despite the years passing by at breakneck speed, we remained frozen in time. We were Oak Hill Post. It was all we knew and it had become intrinsic to our identities as people. Last year we made the decision to make a return to our original idea, A cozy little dinner spot with fantastic food and great service. Once again, we swung for the fences and hit a home run.
We knew that this business wouldn’t last forever. After seven great years we have decided that the time to hang up our aprons is now. I understand that this may come as a shock, and some may lament the loss of a great restaurant. To me, though, this is not a time for sadness, but a time of celebration. Oak Hill Post was a huge success, and one of our greatest achievements in life. We are grateful that we were able to share it with you all.
As for what’s next? Our last supper service will be this Saturday, January 25th, after which Rebecca and I plan to do a couple pop-ups as we wind down operations. As for me personally, I plan to leave the culinary field with a renewed focus on other creative pursuits. If you’d like to join me on my next chapter, you can follow along at . Expect music, scribblings, unhinged rants, and maybe even a little food from time to time.
Thank you all for the opportunity of a lifetime. The memories that we’ve created here will be with us, always.
With gratitude,
Christian and Rebecca
