If you haven't heard the news yet, Rebecca and I have decided that after an incredible seven year journey, it's time for us to begin winding down operations. This was by no means any easy decision to make, but we do believe it is the correct one. Sharing our passion for food and service with our wonderful guests and staff has been the opportunity of a lifetime for which we will be forever grateful.

Although our dining room will remain closed for regular service, we aren't quite finished yet! Over the years we have developed a massive repertoire of recipes and dishes, and we believe it would be a shame to close outright without giving everyone a chance to enjoy some of their favorites one last time. We plan to take this week off for some much needed rest and reflection, but we do have some things in store in the coming weeks.

Beginning Saturday February 8th, we will have a small selection of heat-at-home foods available for in store pickup. Additionally, we will be rotating through some your favorite ready to eat items as well. I don't want to spoil the surprise, but you can definitely expect a few of Pittsburgh's best breakfast foods to make an appearance. We plan to keep this weekend takeout service going through Saturday March 15th.

We know that there's a handful of folks out there with gift cards with a balance remaining. This will be your opportunity to use them. Please note that gift cards are not redeemable for cash value.

Thank you again for the opportunity of a lifetime. The friendships and connections that we've made over the years are truly priceless. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you, and are looking forward to serving you one last time.

Well, Friends, It’s time to start saying goodbye.

Rebecca and I started our little pop up business over seven years ago, serving multi-course dinners out of a cramped, makeshift kitchen in the back room of . Soon we began offering our services as hospitality guns-for-hire to anyone who would have us.

After having done several successful brunches with our friends at , the owner Megan tipped us off about a storefront. A few months later, we took over the storefront at 600 Brookline Boulevard. Our cozy little restaurant that existed only in our imagination was about to become reality.

The Covid 19 pandemic changed our trajectory entirely. The pre-Covid hospitality industry that we loved had begun to change, so we changed with it. Despite the years passing by at breakneck speed, we remained frozen in time. We were Oak Hill Post. It was all we knew and it had become intrinsic to our identities as people. Last year we made the decision to make a return to our original idea, A cozy little dinner spot with fantastic food and great service. Once again, we swung for the fences and hit a home run.

We knew that this business wouldn’t last forever. After seven great years we have decided that the time to hang up our aprons is now. I understand that this may come as a shock, and some may lament the loss of a great restaurant. To me, though, this is not a time for sadness, but a time of celebration. Oak Hill Post was a huge success, and one of our greatest achievements in life. We are grateful that we were able to share it with you all.

As for what’s next? Our last supper service will be this Saturday, January 25th, after which Rebecca and I plan to do a couple pop-ups as we wind down operations. As for me personally, I plan to leave the culinary field with a renewed focus on other creative pursuits. If you’d like to join me on my next chapter, you can follow along at . Expect music, scribblings, unhinged rants, and maybe even a little food from time to time.

Thank you all for the opportunity of a lifetime. The memories that we’ve created here will be with us, always.

With gratitude,

Christian and Rebecca

Maybe it’s the musician in me, but one of my favorite parts about this current menu is being able to endlessly riff on these ideas and watching them shift and change as the weeks go by.

This Agnolotti is probably my favorite thing on the menu. They’re filled with savory mushroom duxelles, shaved Brussels, and loads of cheese. We make em fresh before service every day so quantities are a bit limited.

We had a couple of spots open up for supper service this evening. Plenty of room for walk ins or last minute resos, and it’s a BEAUTIFUL evening to walk on up.

Open 5pm - 9pm.

One of my favorite meals in recent memory was having dinner at my mom’s house a few years ago. It was a pretty simple meal. A nice fresh salad, probably some roasted veggies, and some slow roasted ribs.

Holy hell were those ribs good!

This is certainly not a faithful recreation of that meal, but, hopefully it might be just as memorable for you as my mom’s ribs are for me.

These babies are brined overnight before being braised in a very rich, sweet, sour, salty juice. Before they get to you we give them a coating of maple/gochujang glaze then torch em till they’ve got a hint of smokey char. We also made some very good chili crisp to go on top. This one is tied for the number one spot on my list of favorite dishes.

We had a few spots open up tonight. Plenty of room for walk ins. Supper starts now.

We have officially entered my favorite time of year to cook! I’m probably one of the few chef’s who don’t really look forward to spring and summer. I’ll take a hot braise on a cold night 365 days a year if I could.

This dish exemplifies my love for fall and winter foods. Sausage is one of my favorites. Maybe it’s because of my German ancestry, or maybe it’s because I grew up on kielbasa and sauerkraut. At any rate, this is how I prefer to enjoy it:

House made pork sausage with the last of our Fresno chilies, celery root purée, griddled apples, Gruyère, fish sauce caramel, and toasted pecans. This dish demands affection, which I willingly offer. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

We’ve got loooots of room for walk ins tonight. Get out of the cold and into our dining room, and don’t forget to bring your favorite bottle!

Open Thursday through Saturday for supper service, 5:00pm - 9:00pm.
